    I just reread this again, YOU are talking about a TWO axle truck , whare the rear suspension is set up like the front ( a bobber). the discussion is about THREE axle trucks which have a totally different rear suspension

    The torque rod(strut) design and use has been around since the first truck suspension design and still in use today, the failure of a torque rod and causing a catastrophic failure is NOT the fault of the torque rod design, yes the brake line might need to be moved. WE are talking about TWO...

    so does the older MV suspension, the springs and pocket take care of the side to side movement, and the torque rods take care of the roll and front to back movement , you loose a torque rod (strut) on a modern truck, look what your axle does, at times it goes where no axle has gone before.

    WRONG, in a lot of big truck and trailer suspension, that is what EXCATLY what the torque RODS (struts ) DO

    torque rods are still USED TODAY on MODERN trucks, a good design, just rubber does not LAST 40 years without a BIT of deterioration' Back in the late 40s/early50s when these trucks were FIRST designed, ALL big truck RIMS were SPLIT RIMS, a very good design, the one peice rim is a better design...
