In your shoes, I'd probably either keep it like it is or sell it. You can get motors all day long. You can do a 7.3 or you can do a 5.9, or you could do one of the other hundreds of motors out there even. A clean, well taken care of truck doesn't deserve to be chopped up just for the motor.
I like the 7.3, and when I start hunting for a personal pickup truck, I'm going to hunt exclusively for a Ford with a 7.3 in it.
I see no issues with putting a 7.3 in the deuce, but you may want to consider a different transmission if using the one you have chosen will be pretty difficult to...
