The welder you are looking for was made by miller. I don't know the model number. Sorry!!! My welder was already gone out of mine.

This is the older dodge takeoff contact maintenance box. You also have the air panel in the front of the roof. It was a gas powered generator welder combo unit. Worked ok with the dodges which were also gas powered. Didn't make a lot of sense to have a desiel powered truck with a gas gen.

Another project you may not have thought of is to replace the door locks and the ignition lock. All cucv's are keyed the same. Autozone sells all the locks and it is fairly easy to do. I don't want anyone to steal your ride when it is so close to being completed.

The original relay is a heater relay and is very weak. Any direct replacement relay is still a weak relay. The replacement (doghead) is a starter relay, 100 amp, with many different applications. P/N 7-01860-1 is $10.49 at O'Reilly auto parts.

Since you have the relay panel out you need to do the Doghead starter relay mod. The standard relay is not strong enough and it only cost about twenty dollars. Look it up at the very top on the CUCV form. You are very welcome about the oil cap, it is what this site is all about helping each...

Looking good. I didn't go with the lift on mine, just 255/85r16"s. Still fills the wheel well out better. First two pictures are before last one is after.

It is a vent cap. The other cap doesn't allow the engine to breath building up pressure. Civy engines at the time didn't allow this for emissions reasons. The Government can do what they want.

The Stant 10076 is the correct one. I am not sure bout the vacuum pump pressure but it sounds about right. Check on line here for the TM's, also since you are keeping this truck and want another you might want to buy a set. Good luck and green machines do self multiply.

Just a few things. First great truck. Second your filler cap is the wrong one, it will over pressure the oil system causing leaks or worse. The correct one is from a 1978 1500 Suburban with diesel 350 engine. It will allow the engine to breathe and it is only $9 at o'reilly's. Third the shifting...
