And now, ironically, four years later, I am actually living in a 35' Terry at work. It's actually amazing how much space that is for one person, and I could certainly get by with much less.
Good to know. If I'm rich enough that isn't too horrible for once a year getting to go play. Otherwise, fear not, the truck would be meticulously maintained.
Yeah, curious, what other maintenance will be required? If you don't mind, keep me posted on the costs (feel free to PM me if you'd rather not mention it out in the open)
Or within the borders! Can't wait to crush a few hybrids with my 5 ton. I'd also like to go off road and play in the mud, but I'd get another one to wheel, not live in. Suggestions for my first time taking it off-road, what to watch for? (Feel free to PM me if you prefer)
Yeah, for me not much beats a M939 series 5 ton: Big, heavy, off-road beast that will go anywhere except maybe muskeg and do just about anything, and if taken care of will run forever. I truly hope to someday be a grumpy old guy still driving an M939 around when everyone else has self driving...
No offense taken :)
I will definitely be checking with the DMV on what criteria they insist upon for making it into an R/V or tiny home conversion. Of course I can't be exactly certain without checking with my own state (Alaska) but from what I've heard of other people's conversions there's...
To add further, yes, I would definitely consider a composting toilet if I can find one that works really well and doesn't need a lot of maintenance on a daily, hourly kind of basis. As for the no girlfriend sleepover thing, well, I'm happy being single and any girlfriend would have to be willing...
Buffalobwana, yeah, you bring up some excellent points:
If grid power is close or I could get a temporary service, you bet I'd plug right in. The generator would be strictly for if I had to go somewhere that didn't have that option. Yes, the sound of a generator can definitely get old, but I've...
I'm really thinking the S280 is the way to go then; it'll also fit in the 923 if I don't get the 927.
Need ideas for S280 interior remodels, anyone else who made one living quarters care to chime in?
OK, so pardon my ignorance on S280s but do they already have provisions for said tie downs? Could I use the outside bec tie downs or would I need to fabricate my own?
I've also heard of the S280 on a 923 bed before too and have considered going that route, either with the 923 I also have a line on or in the 927, so I'd have some bec space left for cargo as well, or a "porch", depending on how you think of it I guess. Thoughts on making it not slide...
I have another idea too thanks to someone on one of the M939
Facebook groups: Bolt up the tailgate solid, for 18" or so more of floor space. That still doesn't solve the lifting-the-box-out issue though...
With the tailgate like that I may also consider doing this on a M923A0 I have a line on...
