Sorry I’m late in reply. This was how much I sliced off the offset striking wrench, using just a 4” angle grinder with metal cutting disc in it, wrench held in vice:
I think mine are 6” OD, 1/2” center hole, 1/4” thick flat plate steel, found somebody on eBay to water jet them out for super cheap, like 25 cents per.
You don’t need the angle iron. I used 1 by wood pieces and a wood splitting wedge. Fell right apart.
I did not want to apply heat to the...
Correct on strike location. TedCat hit mine so hard I thought the bracket was going to break. No tension on it, dropped right out. 1-2 hits per. I used a wood splitting wedge and piece of 1 by wood to pre-tension my others, I did not hit them as hard as he did.
Cable, chain, anything. Mine was a 30’ tow / recovery strap left over from Jeep 4 wheeling. But I would think you could even use a ratchet strap without the winder part, as long as it was the 2” wide variety or more.
If you are unable to get it back on, which could be the case, I have successfully used two of the wider commercial type ratchet straps to act as the control arms instead to get the truck home after a link end disconnect. One around the axle housing pulling tightly in each direction, forward and...
Agreed. I did all 6 rods on the ground with nothing removed or jacked up. Went fine. Don’t make it more work than it needs to be. The cotter pins may not cooperate. I just turned the nut right through them to shear em’ off. All 12 went fine this way.
Simp has had numerous of the ball joint type wear out early. He does run a lot of weight, so you be the judge. I did the retaining plate myself, and if you do it yourself is quite low cost. Access to large and mill makes it go quick and easy. I went full disc washers, and see no signs of...
There are no signs of contact after having installed my plates. I was going to do a valve spring between each bolt and plate to address, but there was another member who saw no contact after doing so as well. The plates are spaced out to begin with (like my sister). Also, with articulation...
Have somebody else call next week, and see if they still say no reported failures. That's usually the case. You're kind of rough on stuff though, and I think those are Chinese (Newstar)?
Keeo your micro-press on it full force, then heat the retaining bracket with a propane torch. Then strike bracket with large hanmer.
Love the more tools joke.
