15 hours of stressfull often white knuckle driving to Prudhoe from Fairbanks and another 12-15 hours to Barrow on the ice "road" which is just a rolligon trail for fuel deliveries. White outs, blowing snow can slo you to a crawl.
The iceroad crews get started in early January in the dead of winter before the sun even comes back up and it opens up by mid March. Takes about 12 -15 hours if the weather holds to go the 200 or so miles from Prudhoe to Barrow.
