    M756A2 pipeline construction vehicle

Thanks folks for your responses. No, I have no plans to part the truck out, and I very much know how unique the truck is. I can only hope whomever buys it will finish the restoration of it. It is definitely in pretty good shape. It needs a clutch, and may need a brake master cylinder...

    M756A2 pipeline construction vehicle

I have become too old, sick, and poor to continue restoring this pipeline truck, so it is now for sale to a good home. I tried posting it under vehicles for sale, but that option was not available to me. PM me if you are interested.

He seemed to be about 50-60 years old, and had come from his "ranch" to get water in Prescott. All he said was his pipeline truck was in excellent condition, and had all of the equipment, and he took it regularly to exhibit it around AZ. Possibly the car show in Jerome.

Yes, folks, I am very interested in getting my M756a2 fully equipped, so scoring a set of chains with the D-ring, would great; and hooks for the snatch block, Evil Dr. Porkchop, would be great. Let me know how much, before you make them. Desert Deuce, there has to be at least 3 M756a2 s in...

Another option is just knowing the length of the trunnion, and the diameter of one of the snatch blocks would be very useful. It looks like the trunnion is about 12" long, and the snatch blocks look like they might be 8" in diameter.

Thanks, Evil Dr. Porkchop. Beautiful truck. Thanks, for the great photos. It was very helpful to see a tape next to some of your photos. A photo of the trunion with a tape, or scale, next to it would be very useful.

Recovry4x4, or anyone else. Has anyone made careful measurements of the pipeline truck rigging? I am planning on purchasing, and/or fabricating the complete rigging kit for my pipeline truck so that I can put it to work soon. Also, does anyone have a link to a TM that covers towing, and...

    M756A2 pipeline construction vehicle

There is so little known about pipeline trucks, I am happy for anyone to post on the topic on this thread. So, AMGeneral, how much are they asking for the pipeline truck that you saw, and what does it have with it? The rigging is the big deal, and few surplus pipeline trucks have the complete...

Well, give Jack a try on the shipping costs, because he seemed to think that he could ship the whole bed reasonably. Maybe you could recoup some of your expenses selling your bed and partial stiff-legs to someone else.

    M756A2 pipeline construction vehicle

Today I was at Jack's Gov'T Surplus, in Tucson, AZ. I was looking for a good spare tire mounted on a wheel, which he had, and I wanted the bracket for mounting my spare on the spare tire mount, which he had. While I was searching for the spare tire bracket I ran across a M756A2 bed with...

Thanks I found a 3/4" dia x 4.5" Hitch Pin at a hardware store that should work. It was only $5. But, the hair pin retainer chain was re-welded and is in the way, so I am going to have to cut it off and re-weld it first. I noticed that the stiff legs are like a puzzle, if they are not put...

The 3/4" Steel Tee Handle Clevis Pin, linked to above was a 1.5" too short for the stiff legs, and it was one for $21, not a pack of 10.

Here are photos of the extra winch (Braden LU4 for a M37 or M715), and the chain and clip for the stiff leg. It looks like the chain is later, but the clip might be original. No T pin though. I did a Google search for a T Pin and got the following Reading through the TM 9-2320-209-10-1...

Thanks cranetruck. my stiff legs are missing the T pins and chains. I will fix that.

    M756A2 pipeline construction vehicle

Thanks that helps. The hole is about .805" ID. There is a chain on each leg, one of which has a cotter pin, which seems to secure a 3/4" pin that would hold the 2 pieces of the stiff leg together, and I guess that pin must secure the whole leg into the stow hole, so that part is starting to...

    M756A2 pipeline construction vehicle

Thanks for the photos. Earlier I was looking at your photobucket page on your M756A2 and noticed that the stiff legs stow in the holes under the roller at the end of the bed. The two pieces of each stiff leg have to be held together by a pin or bolt that is small enough to fit inside the stow...

Thanks, I went digging and found the attachments for the stiff legs. One was hidden deep inside the storage tube, but I was able to dig it out. I also photographed the two offset pop-up sheave clevises
