I started a new thread for this year's event and put in an update (Steve and his crew have been hard at work clearing and expanding upon the trails).
The 2015 Va Rally at Graves Mountain thread is located at...
It truly will be. BMan, aka Chuck, has turned in his papers and will be retiring from his State job in August.
I suspect that I will have to get the folks at the Lodge to make us an appropriate cake... ;)
RickF, you do know that the rally is September 3-7, 2015...
It looks to me that:
If you retired in August, your last day would be Friday the 28th.
If you retired in September, your last day would be Wednesday the 30th.
Unless you use some different kind of calendar up there in NJ...or I...
He hides out by that back gate so that he can tell his boss that he is "security" and that he is checking everyone out... :)
At least, that's what the note I wrote for him last year said...
Anything to help a buddy get out of work... ;)
Good news from Syria!
The local Health Department folks have issued the year round camping permit for the big fields, so we should have no problems with early arrivals and late departures this year (2015). :)
It is set... Same weekend and game plan as last year, just have to get the website updated...
Sept 3-7 2015 (Labor Day Weekend...).
Hope that you can make it again this year, we'll save your camping spot... ;)
Thanks to everyone that came to the gathering this year. Chuck (BMan) is still updating his spreadsheets, but he did tell me that I had 70 folks registered this year, and a handful that did not register that attended (most noteably, the folks who had supper with us at the Lodge on Thursday who...

I think that it does, but I am not sure of the exact cut off date (with luck, it will overlap the well approval and the cut off date will be a moot point).
Worse case, if we have to kick you out of the camping field is that I have you relocate to either the domitory area behind the packing shed...
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Our special use permit (due to the ongoing process of getting a Health Department's certification of a well in the horse camping field) allows us to begin overnight camping on Friday night, August 29.
If you come on early (Thursday), we'll have to park you behind the packing...
I would have to look at the roster (which I need to update tonight for BMan to use a the registration tent...), but, offhand: Laura and her granddaughter Khloe, Debbie, Donna, Lynn (who has not been before), and Pam. BMan will be joined by his daughter, but I think that his wife and other...
Olbucksnort is correct... You DON'T actually have to arrive and/or have a MV to attend... :)
We should be able to get folks out on the trails as co-drivers...
I also know a couple of folks who are planning on spending the weekend in the pool or hanging out in the big field socializing..
I've had a few phone call concerning camping at Graves... The field that the horse crowd uses (between our field and the main road) is closed to overnight camping due to the drilling of new wells and the Graves are awaiting Health Department ok on them before they resume unrestricted overnight...
