If you are getting a low fuel lockout but no low fuel light, you may have an issue with the alarm panel.

That looks like a capacitive level sensor.

I have revived several with a bit of ATF and some gentle tap therapy. ATF has excellent detergents and better lubrication properties than most of the penetrating oils. If you need a thinner mix than straight ATF you can thin it with your favorite organic solvent.

Have you unplugged the fuel pump to check if the breaker trips when you put the switch in AUX fuel position?
