    FMTV High Speed Gears

It's alot easier just to swap in the third member, then to swap axles. I did the swap and added a rear locker in 2 days of work. Also adjusted the reduction hubs correctly while I had everything apart.

Well it's 3700 miles on that odometer, I trust them about as much as you can trust a military vehicle fuel guage. If that's the case my lmtv is under 500 miles on the odometer 94 vintage with no rust. Guestimate mine has around 30k on it actually. My odometer guage and a couple others look...

    FMTV High Speed Gears

Having done the swap, you want to to do the take the hub apart method. The weights of the parts involved are high. Additionally the inside wheel bearing should be serviced every so often. On the fronts I found the hardest part was getting the axle shafts re-installed. Getting the splines...

No they will not swap in.

    FMTV High Speed Gears

No, will not bolt in. Maybe you could pull the gear and pinion but as it is it will not

I would want to verify verify a bunch of things first. Width of the wheel flanges (come in 2 different widths, the wide which matches our axle width has low speed gears, the narrow has highspeed gears). spring perch center to center (these have a different width) you will need mrap rims. Will...

    FMTV High Speed Gears

Ha!! To be honest I can't wait to pass a convoy in mine and see the confused looks. Probably one of the best upgrades I have done so far, besides the locker, that comes in handy as well. G load rating MVT has a max speed of 81 at 95psi. The L load range is 68 at 130psi. FYI I find my...

    FMTV High Speed Gears

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but you don't want to do 70mph for a whole lot of reasons. First the truck was spec'ed to do 55mph as that max convoy speed. Second your tires are not rated for that speed, meaning that they will heat up beyond what they are capable of and break down...

I've got some stock gears I'd gladly swap, but I'm all the way in WA. Only still have the stock gear set for the spare parts.

It's by far the best upgrade I have done so far. I paid 1.4k for my gears a while ago. Keeps the engine off the red line at 55-60. Made the driving experience much better.

Pretty simple to do the swap yourself. If you look at my locker thread you can see how it all comes apart

    FMTV High Speed Gears

Well here's the deal. I'm going to do the center section swap when the weather gets better. With the front end on jack stands and drive shaft disconnected wheels and drums off. I will pop the cover off one side and put the cutout cover back on. And tape a degreed circle to the drive shaft...

Pre set up, as in people have been getting the entire center sections. The gers are already factory set up.

    FMTV High Speed Gears

Lots of good info in the planetary hub set up post, for gear lash at the hubs. The center sections themselves are like A ford 9". And will be pre set up for ring and pinion lash

Probably Diesel Brothers bought them all.
