After 5 years with the old school plow setup on the m1028 it’s time for a little bit of an update. 4 leaf springs were swapped in Minute mount push plates No more headgear year round “New” plow on it, an 8’6” Fisher ez-v. Still need to get the lights working and paint it yellow.

That's the one, I had to make a trip down there anyway so I figured I'd pick it up in case I ever needed it.

I haven't had time to do much CUCV work lately but I did pick up a not so common piece, a CUCV II brushguard. Makes me miss my old CUCV II. :-( Pay no attention to the license plate please.

Went to the salvage yard this morning and picked up some parts: Another shift boot, 6.5 diesel oil pump drive to replace the vacuum pump, another clutch fluid reservoir, a shifter out of a jeep wrangler, and some shift knob parts. I use the later style transfer case shift knobs on my trucks...

The last few days I've been making some progress on the NV4500 swap. There's still a bunch left to finish up but the truck is running and driving again.

Lately I've scrapped out the two parts trucks I'm using for the NV4500 swap and started getting the parts ready to go. I test fitted the bellhousing on an engine to see how much grinding needed to be done for the starter but it seems to work just fine as is, unless I'm missing something...

Parts truck number 2 got brought home this evening, an 87 k10. It's a real beauty.[thumbzup] Actually it's a bit rough:lol:, but it has more parts I'll need for the NV4500 swap like the hydraulic clutch pedal and steering column.

I haven't done much work on my CUCVs lately but I did pick up an extremely rusty newer Chevy... ...with an NV4500 overdrive transmission.:-) I guess I'm going to look at installing that in my m1028 at some point. Running down the highway without the engine screaming would be nice.

The joke is that it doesn't say .075 it says 0.75, or 3/4". 0.075 would put it at the factory bore for a 6.5 engine. Yes it is a Tooele "Pride and quality" rebuild. That's one reason I won't put a lot of money into the engine itself, I had another m1028 with one, it didn't last too long and...

The other day I changed the plow truck over to a spin on fuel filter setup and installed new rubber fuel lines to the filter as well. It had recently started leaking fuel out the inspection cover underneath and I was hoping it was a bad rubber hose feeding the injection pump, but a closer look...

I guess it depends on who is doing the inspection, as well as where the rust is. Technically it shouldn't be an issue unless it's a structural problem or a safety hazard such as a person getting cut on it. I just had the inner fender holes and a small cab corner spot so I took an hour to weld...

Welded in a couple patches, added a better license plate light, and then got the state inspection done on the plow truck. Now it's ready for winter.:-|

I'm not big on modifications but the glow plug resistor bypass is one I like. Adding one wire and unhooking another isn't a big deal and the end result is something that works better for me. Nothing hacked, nothing that couldn't be changed back in less than 5 minutes. Saves money and the time...

Warn should still make a hitch that will bolt up to a K5, but I think it needs an extra bolt drilled because of the front shackle mounts on the CUCV. I installed one on my m1028 a few years back. It's hard to see in this pic but it sits under the bumper.
