Well the original looked to be cork...so I used a cork gasket material....so far so good...no leaks....but keep the switching from main to reserve to a minimum.....the Teflon idea you have sounds good....worth a try.....
Great tools you have made.....ive cleaned just a small bit of corrosion inside the sparking plugs and have noticed an improvment.....every bit helps on the old machines.....

Have you moved the dist.? Played with that adjustment any.....? Dependinding on the fuel...which is not the best these days...you may dial in a better running engine.....oh love working on the ferrets fuel tank and lines....carb.....much joy...fun. Fun. Fun.....ha ha

Looking good.....i have never seen the anti freeze markings on a ferret before.....my ferret was sand blasted by the previous owner....all markings lost....if it wasnt for the stampings...i never could say what the c.a.r. number was for sure...thank you for the photos.....some history has been...

The manual is one of my original 1950s and 60s cananadian eme manuals....lots of good stuff in there.....i know its impossible to use a timing light with the shielded wires.....but i bet you could make an adaptor tool.....best to you......i think your doing a great job......
Hi teletech.....there are timing marks on the fluid coupling....look in the opening where you check and fill it.......original cover bolt is long with a sharp point to use as a pointer on the timing marks....
