RE: Re: RE: Engine Prelubricator Ernie, What did you figure out for the threads? Are you going to use an adapter or weld on a fitting? Love the truck....

McDonald's told me that the pumps were fitted with the pvc to be used in the oilfield as fuel transfer pumps...so a high pressure fitting wasn't needed because there would be no pressure generated. He also said the threads were non-standard and he couldn't find any adapters to fit. He thought...

RE: Re: RE: Preluber pics Lee, that's a good idea...I'll talk to him on the 5th and see if he will let us have the pumps at that price, and also if he will ship them out...Might not be a bad idea for someone (you, maybe?) to buy one and install it before everyone sends off for a pump! Patrick...

RE: Preluber pics They're about the size of a car starter...pretty heavy, too. If your're judging the size by the pressure hoses in the first picture, those hoses are BIG. The input and output on the pump is over an inch...not sure exactly what size.

Preluber pics Okay, I took some pictures and this is what we're looking at... The owner of the place told me that he fitted the pumps with standard size fittings so that regular pipe could be used. He also painted them and put a base mount on them. He was selling them to the oilfield workers...

The pumps look remarkably like the ones devilman is developing. I'm sure his are better... They look to be gear drive. The surplus yard is called McDonald's trading post in Plainview, Texas. I live in Lubbock, but will head up that way on Monday to take some pictures.

RE: pump Of course, I stopped to look at these and left my camera at home! I'll drive back out and take some pics by Monday, I promise. If these look like they'll work, we can get enough people, I think, to get the lower price.... Of course, this might offend some who don't agree with...

Otter, that was my comment about the starter motor, and I was just throwing it out there. The really nice thing about this site is that we can think aloud and voice our opinions without worrying about negative comments from the users like Bjorn and David who really know what they are talking...

RE: pump Okay, I found a stash of about 100 WWII aircraft hydraulic pumps... Bendix Aviation Corp Eclipse-Pioneer Division LBS/Sq in. 600 Gal/min 3.5 Volts 24 I think these were used in the P40 aircraft. Would this be enough pump to prelubricate? Looks like all you have to do is find the...

For what it's worth, my cousin had a preluber on his Ford Ranger pickup. He would turn the key on, hit the luber switch until the oil light turned off, and then start the motor. He got over 500,000 miles out of the motor. Made me a believer. As far as "cobbling" things together goes, I get...

Would it be possible to use a 24v starter motor attached to a power steering pump? The motor could also serve as a spare in a pinch...I don't know what a power steering pump flows, but I'm thinking a coupler like the one used on the Oasis off-road air compressor could work.

How much do the canisters hold? That site has a system that can hold 2.5 quarts pressurized...I doubt the filters hold that much, but I don't know for sure. Maybe the prelubicator system with a pump drive would be better? I want my motor to last as long as possible, with fuel costs rising I...

What about the pressurized lube system? www.autoenginelube.com I'm not sure how this is better than using a powered electric pump...anyone have experience with either?
