I noticed this one came with the 30mm socket. I probably want one to keep in the truck for the lug nuts anyway.
I was able to unscrew one this morning. It was a lot of effort, but not a lot of drama.
I'm wondering if one of those torque multipliers would just back them off. May have to give this a try.
Thanks. I'm still looking for the right forge and tools to go with it. It's a 640 pound RatHole Forge, made in Jackson, WY.
I would not reuse it. First it was HARD to get off. All. The. Way.
Putting it back on would be the same, I suspect.
Also, this one bolt at least, the threads are not...
Ah.
I'm in the middle of mounting my winch, which is why I started this huck bolt removal thread. The two bolts behind the fuel tank are indeed right where the winch drum bolt onto the frame. They do indeed have come out to mount my winch, mine are backwards too, but I thought they were regular...
Well, I went with what I had as a test. I had some carbide saw blades for my oscillating saw. It cut through the collar like a hot damn all the way to the "bolt". But, even after 20 minutes of hammering, chilling and cussing, it still did not come out.
This might just be the way. I've been wanting to get a plasma cutter anyway. Figure in the money I'd spend on the hydraulic tool , and this gets more attractive. Plus it's useful for other things.
Edit: I'm seeing $435 on Amazon right now. Still might be worth it.
Edit my edit: I see that one...
Can you define what you mean by the "collar"? The round section past the hex near the frame or the hex itself?
If it's the round section, I can't imaging this hydraulic cutter taking more than 60 seconds to split it (unless it's too tough for 10 tons). Even if you had to cut twice, that's be...
So, I'm beginning work on mounting my winch, wondering how to deal with the Huck bolts, when I come across this tool:
Huck collar cutter
It looks like the thing is just a glorified nut splitter for several thousand dollars.
I'm wondering if. Could cut the collars with one of these much less...
