The canon plugs have been looked at. And that would have been my first guess anyway. The main voltage comes up to the control panel from the starter + side. Trace the voltage back from there.
The reason it turns over with the S10, (dead crank switch) is because the S10 function does not go through the Control panel. Your problem has to do with the control panel or the cabling between it, and the rest of the gen set.
The first place to check is the canon plugs below the control...
Check the canon plugs under the control panel. Should be three of them. Remove them, look into the plugs, to see if nothing is burnt out. Get a light and mirror, and look at the other side of the plugs, to make sure nothing is bent or burnt out. They are quick disconnect, so they kinda "click"...
One of my favorite ways to “re-adjust” an errant solder, was ground rods. Lots of NCOs and Officers normally take the Article 15, (non-judicial punishment) route to punish a soldier for minor infractions against the military’s rules. An old First Sargent friend of mine, when I was a young...
I looked up the NSN for a ground rod kit. Listed next to the NSN, was about 10 part numbers, that all were different, but all got you the same thing. A ground rod kit. Also listed there was alt. NSN's. About 6-8 of them. All got you a ground rod kit. Yep, they are all about the same.
The short answer is no, you would not be safe. When producing electricity, a gen set can bite you. One of you guys in the states chime in here. If we were in germany with the thing, I would tell you to ground it to your rain gutter ground system, or someplace like that. Its been soo long since I...
Did the gen set come with a ground rod? Some have them mounted on the right side, down low, on the side of the skid. If not, you can buy one. The military has them, in 3 foot lengths. Normally you drive one section in, screw the next on, drive it in and add the third piece. for about nine feet...
Its always a GOOD IDEA to ground your set BEFORE running it. As one who has been not just zapped, but hung up on electricity, I will tell you that it brings about a whole new way of thinking. What kind of batteries do you have?
OK NBA! Now you are ready to start. You have the CLEAN schematics, (thank you DieselAddict!!) and with the troubleshooting you can get started. If the engine turns over with the S-10, dead crank, batteries are not the problem. The Dead crank's function is not to start, only to turn over the...
