from the pictures, it no wonder it dosn't work. You need to just make the jump. Buy the -054 and do it. People will jump in and help if you need it. Its really only a few wires.

So I installed an ADVR-054 , I excited it with a little tickle is working perfect. Was an extremely simple install 5 wires. I do appreciate all the help getting it dialed in.
Its clear that you can not regulate AC Volts. You volt regulator is bad. You need a new/old style one, or a After Market VR. Just buy a new after market volt regulator and install it. It can not be hard. There are directions that come with it.

The A1 is what drives all your meters. Percent of load, current and such. The set will run with a bad A1, you just cant read the meters. I have in the past found them on ebay. Plug in the NSN and or part number.
