Odd side note... the truck data tag seems to say it's a 1985 LDT and it has a "C" turbo, but the injection pump has a giant red tag on it that says LDS 465 A1. As you can see the camera sucks. I'll have to clean the pics up.

You have that right. And the same goes for you as well Don. I went from "No big deal" to "FML" in about 10 seconds when that jack ran out of travel, and I ran out of lower points to place it. It never dawned on me to bring cribbing. I figured that jack was my back-up for the super duper...

The real joy was finding the source of the fuel leak. (Don knows what I'm talking about) Around 36th street at 11:00.... just after getting the tire on... what was a pesky dripping fitting burst and blew mixed waste oil fuel through the steering shaft hole into my lap. I figured what it was...

The truck was supposed to have a jack... the 12ton bottle jack i brought was 3 inches short on travel. 15 minutes later, the fuel line blew apart. I just got home. Beat. I'll post later.

I'm probably going up 131 in the car. As much as I should preview the route home, I'm reluctant to waste an extra hour puttering my way up there at 55 and below. As soon as I hear back from the insurance guy, I'm off to the bank to grab the cash. The only things I'm concerned with are traffic...

    Planning a West Michigan recovery.

I'm really torn. I might try the M37 shot down to try to bypass GR to the west. I'm thinking downtown Grand Rapids won't be fun, and I'd rather not even be close to Division Ave in something that might break down... even armed. 131 is a straight shot... but the S curves I'm talking about for...

I would love to just run 131, but I don't think I really want to put the deuce through the s-curves in GR on my first drive... or ever if I can help it. And if I have to stop-n-go, I would rather be in the smaller towns than around Alpine Ave. Everything from Muskegon down is glorified country...

Depending on what time I might call you just to shake your hand. I'll be rolling right through there. Thanks guys, it's been a long time to bring her home.

Zero rust, but massively flaking paint (hence my thread on pressure-washer blasters and the build) I checked the bumper numbers, and she was an airfield truck for a helo unit, so I have high hope for her maintenance quality. 1969, 3rd lot production, "C" turbo, airshift, plus a heaterkit I...

    Planning a West Michigan recovery.

I'm looking at running down the west side of the state from Copemish to Kalamazoo on 31 to M89. I figure that will keep me in double lane 55 zones where I won't cause too many problems. Anything I should be aware of? Anyone in the area if I run into trouble? I will have a chase car, and I'm...
