    Question about Rebuilt(?) TH-400

Finally got the M1009 back today. Over two months later. Removed three times total from the truck. Many parts swapped out. It now starts in first, shifts well in all three gears. Downshift is not quite as aggressive as I would like. However, there is a new issue. There's a quite...

    Question about Rebuilt(?) TH-400

Side note: drove past a few gas stations today. All of them had no gas. My first thought was "I miss my diesel!" I saw a couple of Mexican landscapers filling up medium-duty trucks as old ladies pulled in only to be perplexed that their sedan could not be filled up.

    Question about Rebuilt(?) TH-400

Quick update: governor was replaced, then the valve body was replaced. The noise still persists and it's not shifting correctly (still). The tech is taking the whole thing out and rebuilding it again, not per my request - they seem to be trying to make things right. I'm glad another guy is...

    Question about Rebuilt(?) TH-400

Quick follow up on this. A different guy, their "builder" is working on the transmission. He replaced the governor. I see one reference online saying they can cause a whine, but more importantly it controls the 1-2 shift, which was borked for sure. He's waiting to test drive it tomorrow...

    Question about Rebuilt(?) TH-400

Nope, just didn't install it. Even though I left a note about the new pan in a box, in the truck. Obviously someone was not paying attention. I took it back to the shop on Thursday. We'll see what they say. I suspect I'll have to have that other shop in Roswell tear it down and photograph...

    Question about Rebuilt(?) TH-400

I did that myself about a year / 500 miles ago. Think I actually changed it out. No signs of leaking.

    Question about Rebuilt(?) TH-400

Thank you very much. I will look into it. Their website looks promising. I am taking it back to the original shop to see what they do. On Thursday.

    Question about Rebuilt(?) TH-400

I'm in the SE section, literally on the Little River on the border with Milton.

    Question about Rebuilt(?) TH-400

Just took some pics of the leaky pan, leaky cooling fittings, reused vacuum line, and the best is the cotter pin. I gave them a new pan with magnetic drain and they didn't install it. This kinda stuff drives me nuts... At least it's a good pan gasket.

    Question about Rebuilt(?) TH-400

Would be great but I'm actually up in Cherokee county. Over 2 hours to get to Bowdon. Thank you though. I wish there was a place around here I could rent rack space for about a month and knock out this and other projects. I hate not having a shop.

    Question about Rebuilt(?) TH-400

Thanks. I appreciate all the advice here. It's going back on Thursday. "Grandpa" didn't want to talk to me on the phone but I heard him in the background and he was concerned about how far I was away from the shop. He knew he screwed something up.

    Question about Rebuilt(?) TH-400

To clarify, I spent about twice what you mentioned to have the transmission rebuilt. It would not go into Reverse at all when I took it in. After the "rebuild" it went into R and shifted fine. What concerns me is that when it sits a few days and I put it into R to pull out of my driveway, it...

    Question about Rebuilt(?) TH-400

I just saw online that white stripe modulators are for diesel. Heading out to look at the truck... Update: no white stripe. I also noticed the cotter pin for the gear selector was never folded over and is about to fall out. Great.

    Question about Rebuilt(?) TH-400

Over the past 2 years I've done a lot of work on my M1009. I finally got it back from the body shop and was hoping to enjoy putting some miles on it. It rewarded me by failing to go into reverse. First it was sometimes, then always. The transmission was whining. I didn't really think about...
