I chose a HEMTT because I was a little bit afraid of the MK48's articulation steering after reading about fatal accidents from unintended steering movements at speed. In hindsight, back in 2015 they were selling so cheap I regret not buying a MK48 or two... buying more HEMTTs too, but who could...

I thought that cable was already the same? What did you change? The connectors and covers are readily available from Mouser, if we could find the exact spec of the cable itself it would be easy for anyone to make their own brand new cable... Jon

Ah yes! That was why I called Pall Aeropower. When I went to service my filter, the old o-ring(s) had disintegrated into mush, so I had nothing to match, and searching the NSN didn't give me enough info. They were very helpful, and sent me the manual as well as gave me the specs for the o-rings...

Why would you bypass the high pressure filter? If you need info on them, it's a Pall model 9800... I have the service manual from Pall I can email you if you need it, and the filters are cheap and plentiful through surplus channels. The tech at Pall told me they're very nice aircraft-grade...

That's why I wouldn't leave the cover on, or even the bows. I use the crane too often. I really bought it just so I could camp out in the back when I'm at rallies / shows / other events. NOW you tell me! :roll: I think Dave Walker still has another new cover. It's a little thinner material...

Great video, but personally I wouldn't have done it that way... I would have rented a full size van so I could carry more equipment, and I would have picked up the complete Mk48 first, then went to pick up the FPU and flat towed it to get the wrecker RBU, then driven both complete trucks back...

When I took mine apart to replace the filter, the original o-rings crumbled. I called the manufacturer (Pall Aeropower) and they gave me the spec for the o-rings plus the attached service instructions. It's a -229 o-ring plus back-up ring. If you need a set, PM me your address... I had to buy...

I don't understand where that cooler is located... It appears to be passenger's side in front of the rear axles, but mine has nothing in that area to hide a cooler behind. Did you add a tool box there? I've followed along with this thread but I may have missed or forgotten...

You've got some hoses to replace, eh? I saw the hydraulic pee-stream in a few of the pics of yours. Mine will need hoses too, the site manager said my "crane has leaky hoses" but he described them as seepage, not squirtage. Jon

Nice building and a good use of the HEMTT to raise the trusses... If you ever want to remove it, the HEMTT can also raze the trusses! Jon
