What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

I chose a HEMTT because I was a little bit afraid of the MK48's articulation steering after reading about fatal accidents from unintended steering movements at speed. In hindsight, back in 2015 they were selling so cheap I regret not buying a MK48 or two... buying more HEMTTs too, but who could...

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

I thought that cable was already the same? What did you change? The connectors and covers are readily available from Mouser, if we could find the exact spec of the cable itself it would be easy for anyone to make their own brand new cable... Jon

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

Ah yes! That was why I called Pall Aeropower. When I went to service my filter, the old o-ring(s) had disintegrated into mush, so I had nothing to match, and searching the NSN didn't give me enough info. They were very helpful, and sent me the manual as well as gave me the specs for the o-rings...

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

Why would you bypass the high pressure filter? If you need info on them, it's a Pall model 9800... I have the service manual from Pall I can email you if you need it, and the filters are cheap and plentiful through surplus channels. The tech at Pall told me they're very nice aircraft-grade...

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

That's why I wouldn't leave the cover on, or even the bows. I use the crane too often. I really bought it just so I could camp out in the back when I'm at rallies / shows / other events. NOW you tell me! I think Dave Walker still has another new cover. It's a little thinner material...

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

Here's a few pics of my HEMTT with the cargo cover on... I didn't have the energy to put the end curtains on, the cover itself is quite heavy and with just over 6' of head room under the bows, it was hard work getting it up there without the help of a Soldier B and preferably a Soldier C as...

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

I saw it coming about 5 miles out... The hours were at 444.4 but the mileage was at 22,217. I thought "no way the hours will still be at 444.4 in another 5 miles" but I kept an eye on it and got the camera ready, and sure enough! I just looked at the picture I posted above, and it almost looks...

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

I just picked mine up today (Friday)... I probably won't get a chance to try it out until Sunday. My wife's parents are visiting from Scottsdale and her dad wanted a ride, so I drove the HEMTT to Fastenal to pick up the crate. I looked down at the gauges just in time to catch them at 22,222.2...

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

Great video, but personally I wouldn't have done it that way... I would have rented a full size van so I could carry more equipment, and I would have picked up the complete Mk48 first, then went to pick up the FPU and flat towed it to get the wrecker RBU, then driven both complete trucks back...

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

I've had a new HEMTT tarpaulin for over 8 months but no bows or end curtains... I bought one of Swiss's kits, I plan to put it on when it arrives to see how it looks so I'll post pics then if someone doesn't beat me to it. I know they look funky and the tarpaulin is a thin material - seems...

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

When I took mine apart to replace the filter, the original o-rings crumbled. I called the manufacturer (Pall Aeropower) and they gave me the spec for the o-rings plus the attached service instructions. It's a -229 o-ring plus back-up ring. If you need a set, PM me your address... I had to buy...

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

I don't understand where that cooler is located... It appears to be passenger's side in front of the rear axles, but mine has nothing in that area to hide a cooler behind. Did you add a tool box there? I've followed along with this thread but I may have missed or forgotten...

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

Awesome! Nice to hear that your transmission shifts the same as mine... At first I thought it was malfunctioning, but over the course of the 1,800 mile recovery trip, I came to accept the torque converter unlocking at each shift, and then locking again, as normal. Allison's manual...

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

I got a reply from Pall Aeropower: "The head-to-bowl seal on the 9800 series filter assembly is a -229 size o-ring. This is a standard sized o-ring, according to the SAE AS568 specification, and should be available at most hydraulic supply houses. The material is nitrile and it's 70 Shore A...

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

I got my outrigger beams stuck in the 'out' position... Thank goodness the truck is in my backyard. I was playing with the crane, it works great. Went to stow it, everything went well until the last step - retracting the beams. I can hear a slight load come on the engine but no movement...

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

Very nice installation, I'm curious what the advantages are... Isn't the MRAP air dryer still a desiccant dryer? You can get a HEMTT air dryer kit for like $20. What does 'fass' mean, and what makes those fuel filters better? It's not like the Parker/Racor unit on the HEMTT uses expensive or...

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

You've got some hoses to replace, eh? I saw the hydraulic pee-stream in a few of the pics of yours. Mine will need hoses too, the site manager said my "crane has leaky hoses" but he described them as seepage, not squirtage. Jon

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

Nice building and a good use of the HEMTT to raise the trusses... If you ever want to remove it, the HEMTT can also raze the trusses! Jon
