Thanks- yeah judging by the pictures combat32 sent of a stock set up, it looks like my cold start system has had some 'field mods' applied. Getting a quart or so of water out of the fuel filters has already helped some. God love those old diesel engines.

Haven't been here in a few weeks, thus the late reply, but I apparently have the only one that takes a while to spin up. It probably takes a good 5-10 seconds on the starter and pumping fuel, then more pumping to get to a stable idle. That was also before I changed out both fuel filters which...
