Hey guys, been away for a while now. I've been having a lot of life problems these past few months. I apologize to all of you who have been patiently waiting for news on getting some of these manufactured and shipped. This is why I'm glad I didn't collect any money from anyone before getting...
Yeah, it's just irritating. I haven't had this motor installed for very long. Wasn't leaking when it went in. It would probably help if I retorque the heads, but I haven't made a wrench yet.
Nicely done. I've got almost 6000 miles on mine with no leaks yet. Headgaskets are seeping and running back to the outside of the bellhousing now though.
From all of our discussion about this, the problem is with machining the factory part. There just isn't much material to work with to make a reliable part.
That's why I said I don't want to pick it apart before seeing what he did. Don't want to make an a$$ out of myself, especially if it is of sound design.
That would be super tiny. And then the spindle gets real thing near the only area that sees any stress on the whole part.
Let's see what you got. I don't want to rain on your parade unjustly.
Happy to report that so far my test unit that I installed with my new transmission, overdrive, and LDS, is now just over 4,000 miles leak free. Sure is nice to have a bone dry bellhousing. I'll have to get back with my machinist soon and see what we can do about production.
I would like to...
This is the last pic I got before I ended up in the hospital. He has since messaged me telling me it is done, but I'll have to get finished pics myself.
I stopped in again today. Got to talking about guns and forgot to get a pic of the part, but it is almost done. Poor guy is working on it in between jobs but doing some nice work. It is almost done, just some inside work on the base and the mounting holes left. Sorry guys, but looks like this...
If I can order 15-25 units at a time, I can get the price per unit down to around $225. This does not include the seal or shipping though.
I have seen group buys go south a few times on this forum and it makes me pretty uncomfortable. I NEED to do a group buy in because I can't afford to buy...
The plate and tube is a wash. We already discussed it and there is too much room for error, especially where we are already trying to stop a leak. The issue I have running it in aluminum is that it doesn't wear as well as steel, and the throw out bearing moves on this shaft a whole lot. Aluminum...
Progress: On a Haas CNC lathe. This is number one, first cut from real steel. The machinist is also a member here and a good friend of mine. He quoted me at $600 material and machine time for one piece at a time, but the more I order the cheaper it gets. 5-10 pieces gets it down around the high...
