    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

I installed my tach in place (general area) of the stock air filter gauge (which never worked anyways). Clean, easy to read while driving, etc...

    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

I am very happy with the Dirty Boyz kit and especially their customer service. Mike Ried over at Dirty Boyz is a solid dude who has these trucks himself and knows his product inside and out. I also picked up the 4 speed shifter from him to complete the package. The 4 speed literally changes the...

    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

I literally went to a exhaust shop and said put on whatever muffler you have that will fit ! I cant begin to describe how horrible the truck sounded (and performed) with no muffler. I should of known better from past experiences with motorcycles. When it was straight piped the truck had no power...

    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

4/1/19: First miles on the new setup / 4 speed conversion. As I had mentioned before my truck has been in my friends shop since July 2018 and basically has had a complete front to back top to bottom done to it. Aftermarket Radiator, 700r4, new driveline parts, 2” spring lift , 2” body lift, new...

    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

I guess every truck is different. Before the swap with my 6.5L/3 speed I could cruise the truck at 60-65mph without the RPM's screaming too bad, and maxed out I hit 75 via a GPS Speedo app on my phone. Along with the trans I also got rid of the stock / heavy wheels and tires and went...

    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

Great to hear. What's your "average" cruising speed and RPM with the 700R4 in your truck ?

    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

Yeah, I don't play that game ! UPDATE 3/23/19 Leaking transfer case was sent out for a full seal/gasket rebuild and is back installed in the truck and is nice and dry. Shop working on the truck has one day of wiring to finish up this coming Monday and then should be putting some well deserved...

    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

Ask and you shall receive … That's all I have so far. I stopped by the shop today and for whatever reason the main seal of the transfer case is now leaking ! Wasn't leaking before or for the past year I owned the truck so who the **** knows why it is now ? So, tomorrow its coming out to be...

    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

As of 3/5/19 the trans is fully installed in the truck and all seems to be well. The shop that is installing it for me is finishing up a bunch of little odds and ends before the truck gets its first shake down miles and we can see if this swap lives up to the hype. Installing a tach in the...

    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

I stopped by the shop working on my Humvee today and asked how the "magical" TV bracket worked out and I quote: "Your truck had one on it already, we just used what was there.." So, some of these trucks have this said to be extinct bracket ? I guess I now have one for sale ?

    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

The kit was around $3500 I believe (give or take) from Mike over at Dirty Boyz Off Road. I also splurged and got a 4 speed shifter from him as well. Then around 8-10 hours of labor at my buddies shop to get it installed. Still have some road testing to do but from what they say it was literally...

    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

With their almost stock Humvee wheel look these are becoming the aftermarket wheel of choice on these trucks..

    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

2/27/19 700r4 and stock transfer case bolted together and went into truck today with zero issues. TV cable installed , trans filled, lines to cooler ran, etc. From what the shop said doing the work the entire install was around 9-10 hours... Few more things need to be wired on the truck and...

    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

My bracket came with the kit I got from Mike over at Dirty Boyz Off Road. Get ahold of him as he might sell you just the bracket.

    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

The shop that is working on my truck is doing the trans swap. They specialize in complete road racing spec builds of Ferrari's and lambos so a trans swap in A Humvee isn't a huge deal for them. Exactly why I brought my truck to them in the first place. No matter what I want done or any crazy...

    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

2/25/19: My 700R4 is getting installed in my truck this week. I will have tons of photos to post of the install once completed.

    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

After doing some looking into it I just bit the bullet and bought a new 4-Speed shifter from Mike over at Dirty Boyz Off Road (same place I got the trans kit from). Made no sense to go this far into the project and skimp out on something so small (and important) as the correct shifter.

That's kinda still up in the air. If the guys can make it work sure, if not I will have to source a 4 speed shifter.. We shall see..
