    WMO users in Ohio?

Supposedly from the sources I've seen, this system can filter down to 0.5 microns or more, which should be more than fine. I think I've seen some people say that they only filter down to 5 microns.

OK, so I got it all set up! But I'm going to wait for warmer weather to fire it up, I don't want to have to heat up the oil when it's only 30 degrees. I'd like to not spend a bunch on electricity to heat the oil when I can get mother nature to help for free. When I get it up and running, I'll...

LOOKY WHAT I JUST GOT!!!!! Got it from PA Biodiesel Supply. It's a 120 GPH centrifuge unit, complete with everything, just have to pick up a couple of drums tomorrow morning. I also have a thermostat control coming so I can limit the maximum heat from the band heater. It's 1300w, so...

Ok, so I think I'm close to getting a setup, it would filter 55 gal. of WVO or WMO in 2-4 hours depending on how dirty the oil is. It would be mounted to a drum already, so it would easily fit in most larger SUV type vehicles, vans, and obviously pickups. It shouldn't be very heavy as it would...

But you still need the proper type bowl, machined and balanced, to separate out the waste.

A clothes dryer motor isn't going to spin at 3000-6000 rpms....

Gimp, do you have any specs on the motor? That might be the limiting factor on how much bowl it could spin.

Maybe we could have minimum settling time, and a basic minimum filtering requirement. I run all my oil through a 100 micron screen and a magnet before I let it sit. Another "rule" that might be good is that the group is not liable for any Kaboom's that may occur.

Well I'm NOT an engineer, which is why I'm picking all youse smart guys' brain box.:) I might just buy a drum heater from Northern Tool as an option as well. And if there are less guys committed to it, yes we can pare it down. Gimpy's find might be helpful as well. Maybe one of you engineer...

OK, so here's what I've been looking at; http://utahbiodieselsupply.com/centrifugewvo.php If we would get the extreme package with the inline heater and power cone the cost would be around $2,000. You can get it in 120 or 240v, but I'm thinking we'd opt for 120v since not everyone would have...

That sounds like a good idea Gimp. When is Findlay BTW? I have a kid graduating so I have to plan things ahead this year. If anyone is interested in this, please PM me or reply. What I'd be aiming for is no more than $200 investment per person, a commercially made unit for reliability (not...

Westcott, you say time is the best method to filter, but yet you're still running your WMO through filters. I get your point, and I'd like to say I'd take the best of both worlds. I have about 150 gallons of WMO that's been sitting for around a year. I just don't have the truck road worthy so...

Fittings would probably fairly easy, as you can always make adapters to fit whatever set up you already have, and for not much money.

What's the smallest camlock fitting they make? I don't think the lines would have to be that big, probably no bigger that 1/2-3/4" or so, so there's probably a bunch of different ways to go. I haven't gotten that far yet.

I was thinking of something just mounted on a stand or a 3'x3' piece of plywood that could be clamped to a workbench. Most of the units I'm thinking of would be less than 100 lbs, and they could easily fit in the trunk of a car.

That just sounds inherently dangerous to me...

I'm thinking it would be just the centrifuge unit with maybe an inline heater, that way it would be very easy to transport. People would likely have their own clean and dirty storage containers, we'd just have to all have the same connectors to make connection easy. 120 would also make it...

I have a big project I'm working on this spring, so I don't have the money to invest by myself. Thus the idea about a co-op. And you can get ready to run set ups, you just connect to your Dirty WMO tanks and a line to your clean storage tank.

    WMO users in Ohio?

I don't have a "product", I was thinking possibly of a group of guys going in together and buying a centrifuge. From what I've read here, that is the ultimate way to filter WMO, but I suspect a lot of us don't use enough to justify spending that much money. Obviously there would be details to...

    WMO users in Ohio?

Just was thinking about how nice it would be to have a centrifuge, but I just can't justify the cost with MAYBE using a couple hundred gallons every year once I get the deuce up and running. But I had a little brainstorm. This is completely in it's infancy, but I was wondering if it would be a...
