    WA state cancelling MV titles

[ They issue titles. It was a made up excuse to deny people. I think somebody finally sued them. I have an M936A2, M817, M542A2 and M35A2 all with titles. Three of them historical plated. The M817 actually has a VIN "USMCxxxxxx" on the title which is really cool. There are some other tricks...

    WA state cancelling MV titles

CA did that for a long time. No 17 digit VIN then no road title. It was a thing. Obviously any vehicle before that requirement would then be illegal. Stupid logic.... Now it's not their thing. Don't know why. Figure somebody sued them into being sensible? HMMWV's are for sure their thing...

    WA state cancelling MV titles

My advice.... Get your VT plates and title. Transfer to your state. If they push back ask them if they are not doing state reciprocity. If they say they aren't, or if they get to discriminate, take down the names of the officials document the event be obvious about it. Then get all your paper...

    WA state cancelling MV titles

For that matter USC 49, 30112(b)(1) would apply as you bought it in good faith from the US Gov't, have an SF97 to prove it, and it's not for resale. It's nice that they voted it through in GA. Here in PRC (People's Republic of California) I would have to author a bill of the same, get somebody...

    WA state cancelling MV titles

Huh. My wrecker is a '90 by serial number but was MI titled as an '86 so that's what CA thinks. No FMVSS to be found. Think this was just for the actual vehicles that entered production? Thinking LMTV, FMTV, HEMMT, etc.... The new Oshkosh stuff and whatnot.

    WA state cancelling MV titles

I wasn't aware they started doing this (after my time and I own older stuff). Thanks for the correction. To some extent it'll still be "fuzzy" though. In the USCG we did COI for MSC because they "wanted to comply" per their directive but very much let us know they didn't "have" to. The same...

    WA state cancelling MV titles

No military truck is ever going to meet FMVSS. The Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards are things like crash ratings, air bags, seat belt style and type, etc... It never has and never will happen with MV's. The only reason they have "DOT similar" lighting is so they can traverse public roads...

    WA state cancelling MV titles

Huh. Why do you need an SF97 if you already have an out of state title? State reciprocity rules apply if you have an out of state title. Has WA decided they will not honor vehicle titles from the other 49 states and that their rules take precedence over federal ones? I think not. Sounds to me...

    WA state cancelling MV titles

Well I'm not sure about WA but where I'm at in CA we have the same issues. That said I was able to get it done. The problem with CA is they make everyone commercial (every truck even pickups) so they force that route before you can do anything else. This triggers the FMVSS requirement. I had two...
