I would have loved to stopped by unfortunately we just went through that area a week ago. We are going to be in Acadia next week then head to Katahdin to hike that then into NH to mount Washington. Then Vermont and New York.

😂 Thanks but that’s way to much work. My wife does an Instagram #nomadventures360. To keep family and friends up to date on our travels.

While parked along the river in Augusta, Maine I meet someone who knew where our trucks were made, he actually knows Mr Stewart of Stewart & Stevenson. And I got to witness for the first time a 4’ Sturgen jump out of the water!

The original fuel tank is aluminum and was built very well. I would personally mount it the same way they did.

My smaller gasoline tank you’re referring to is not as deep or in other words it’s about 9” away from the frame, because of the spring hanger and other things. Also the short distance between the two L brackets that are attached to the frame are relatively close to each other which meant that I...

I actually built an electric deployable version first that would work when the door was opened. But I felt it had too many parts and hung down more than I wanted it to. So I went with a simpler design that will never fail.

While standing on the original diamond plate step just reach down and hook it with my foot and lift it up or I’ll pull it up then climb on the wheel or tire and get in. It’s such a rare circumstance it’s not that big of deal.

Gone are the cable steps that I never could find on my way down. I wanted a step that came out away from the truck that you could see as you’re coming down but I didn’t want it in the way while tipping the cab or while negotiating rough terrain. So I can easily swing these up out of the way and...

Everything back together. Notice there are no cable steps? That’s the next project.

Pulled the winch apart for painting. I figured I should paint some other items while it was all apart. Loads of fun trying to find just the right mounting position for the winch controller and that’s the wireless remote controller plugged in, inorder for the wires to reach but also miss the...

We finally finished the build and left out for our first trip in it. We left February 27 going out for two months and today we are in Ocoee National Forest on a lake front with drizzling rain so I have some downtime to post the progress. Test fitting accomplished now to take it all apart weld...

Next big project was fitting the 25,000 lb 24 volt winch up front. My goal was to mount it as high and as close to the round cross member as possible. Here is how I did it.

So I just finished connecting them to 24 Vdc and oh yeah baby!!!! They are more than twice as fast almost 3 times faster. I’m guessing because they over came the load allowing it to move faster. 2 seconds up and 2 seconds down.

So here’s a question my power windows stop working months ago. Yes the cheap ones from Amazon….I’ve tried looking for a higher quality product but have come to the realization that I might just have to replace them every couple of years they’re cheap enough. But the question is I think I’m going...

Nice, where there is a will there is a way. We all have to get creative if we are going to maintain these vehicles.
