Mounted the alternator, had to run to NAPA for some longer belts. Just waiting on the radiator to get done. The guy was able to repair it after all. I guess all it took was a little criticism about it being his job. He said that he is semi retired and usually stays away from that kind of job. I...
Just found out today that the radiator that I pulled from the 76 is not repairable and the new one that I bought new has been damaged in storage so now I am going another route. Ordered one for a Case MX100 tractor off of fleabay, Looks like I can make it work.
I have 2 of those kits to put on trucks. I'm rebuilding or replacing everything in the brake system on the 70, some jackwagon put DOT 3 fluid in it and the wheel cylinder bores were rusted.
I always worry about ripping off fuel, air and brake lines. I crunched a doe about 3 weeks ago on a county road about 50 mph. Sounded horrible. I dreaded hitting the brake pedal for fear of nothing being there.
Radiator on the 76 was leaking so I pulled it last week and took it to Carnegie Radiator outside of Pittsburgh. I figured it was a good time to change over to a screw on primary fuel filter. Used a napa base, inlet and outlet were the same sizes as the old housing. Found the alternator case was...
Put a short enough chain in between 2 vehicles and it has no choice but to follow. Brought home an S10 with an S10 blazer. Chained together. About 15 miles on a county road.
3rd gear low range but from what I have seen, my truck is not normal. I have been in a dozen different deuces and this one has more power by a long shot. It always feels like it is on the edge of coming apart. No idea what the rpms were. Didn't even look at the gauges. I just slipped the clutch...
They had the sled set up for 8800lb pro stock tractors. They were going 280' to 330' I took it just about 260'. Not bad considering the power rating. The tag on the block says 77MM3/stroke fuel rate and 140hp at 2600 rpm. It's a White engine.
Changed my mirrors to the LMTV style. Thanks Fuzzytoaster. Troubleshot my no crank problem. Had my Vietnam vet friend help me. Thanks Gene Wilson. I gave him the easy job of manning the controls in the cab. Found was getting power all the way to the starter solenoid when the button was pressed...
Ordered 4 new old stock 11r20 Michelin XLs for the rear. Broke down a 5 ton wheel that had a new 11r20 Michelin XL on it. Cleaned up the inside of the tire. Cleaned up the tube and flap. Aired the tube up and checked it for leaks. Made a new shifter knob out of a pair of steel knuckles. Ordered...
Replaced the low cranking amp car batteries with 950 cca batteries from napa. They were on sale for 90 bucks each. The truck cranks so much faster now. I also ordered a 39MT delco starter for it for $159.40 on flea bay.
