    I'm glad you got the part in time and that it worked out for you. Under pressure to MAKE IT WORK is always the worst, and where the most mistakes are made. Lesson learned, right? Happens to us all.

    The only way I tackle that stupid damn filter is with a chain wrench, with the side panel off (all but the lowest right corner bolt, use that as a pivot to move the panel up and out of the way). It works every time.

    Hydraulic hoses will have no issue moving diesel through them.

    Its not ideal, but if you needed to you could also just have a line fabbed up to bypass the separator temporarily in the face of a hurricane. A parts store should be able to make one for you.
