Pics of 395/85R20
I don't know much about the M35A3 rims except I have never seen them available! I can say that the Michelin XML 395/85R20 tires are a good match to single out the deuce. Good luck with your project. Here are some pictures of the first conversion I did with 395/85R20s.

Since all the old pics are gone, I thought I would post some new ones. I recently finished the super single conversion on an M36. Tires are Michelin Pilote 15.5/80/R20 and Rims are Custom Double Beadlocks.

As SpicerGear described, these double beadlocks are internal. I found a pic and attached it. These thick rubber inserts are used by the Army on all heavy trucks. Jeepers sometimes use large PVC pipe and cut slices off for inserts. O rings are used to make the seal between the two halves.
I was intrigued with the Sarge's comment, so I looked into it. From what I have seen so far, I'm not sure he has his facts straight.
"The accident scenario for all M939 trucks occurs during panic stop situations and is worsened on wet pavement. In panic stop situations the trucks wheels lock...
Tom, glad you are okay. Too bad you weren't driving the duece! That 5ton winch might have plowed the way.
MC, I agree. I'll keep my XMLs over NDCCs anyday.

Those tires look great. Where are you located? Europe? I haven't seen many of those tires around here. I agree they would both be awesome on a deuce. I would think the width of the tires would be different, as the first number should indicate width, in mm. You pic shows...

I haven't had any clearance issues or problems with rubbing.

I run 'em straight, although I'm offroad most of the time. Golf balls would probably be best/easiest.

I think you will be better off in the long run. Are you going to widen the split ring rim or are you going 2 piece? Are you going with beadlocks?
RDM-
You can go either way. Weld it up and use the split ring (looks like stock rim, only 10" wide), or get new centers and leave as two halves (2 piece bolt together design with or without beadlock insert). My radials are tubeless and are on the 2 piece double beadlock rims. One half shown in...

You have several options to get the look you want.
1. Take two stock deuce rims, cut in half and reweld to form a 10" wide rim. M35 products has done this.
2. Get 5 ton beadlock rims and machine a custom center with the duece lug pattern and bolt in. Spicergear is working on this...
