    The problem with using a chain saw for RR ties is that gravel likes to hide here and there in surface cracks in the ties. Once you hit one, even with a carbide chain, you are pretty much done. Been there, done that. Now I use a regular circular saw with a cheap carbide blade. Like, Harbor...

    I got mine for hauling firewood. I get log butts and crotches from a log processor, loaded with a grapple. 30", 40" oak rounds loaded to the gills, plus my M101 trailer behind. Works fine. I'm in no hurry.
