Truck bought for parts, got it running, but…

You might want to make it adjustable while you are in there..

Melton reset is nothing more than having someone making your truck worse than when it came in.

Truck bought for parts, got it running, but…

I swear when I started my truck without the turbo I got a huge stream of oil from the big hole. It was like a geyser and it hit the the top of the body. Makes sense that the small hole would be the pressure side and return the large one.

They are the bolt holes that hold it to the engine block. I looked at new cartridges and I don’t think they are very expensive

The 2 holes in the middle are the oil supply (big) return is smaller. At least that’s how it seemed when I started my truck with the turbo off.

It is base fed and you have a supply and return hole and that’s why gasket looks like an 8 Just goes in the base and lubes the bearings and shaft.

Open it up and look at it. It’s built to channel water down to the drain at the bottom. My truck has a block off at the bottom and not the duckbill. It’s a major restriction and my truck doesn’t need it. Everyone can do whatever they think is best. This works for me

I don’t think that’s even possible? Nothing filters out sand like paper. How come modern vehicles don’t have complete obstructions if it’s a possibility? I think it’s to deflect water and not Dirt

I never would’ve checked if not for replacing my injection pump. I have had so much help from members here. I never would have had the confidence to do it without them. I don’t know anything about diesels or Humvee’s. The TM’s are really helpful but nothing like being able to ask a question.

I had the air canister off when I did the injection pump and the elbow that you can’t see was torn apart. Might be a good thing to check because rain water would’ve run into it. I really like my air canister now. I took that inner part out to give it more airflow.

I got this one. I also did the Mogman wastegate upgrade

Truck bought for parts, got it running, but…

I don’t think you should have oil coming from there. I would think that it’s getting past the turbo. When I replaced my injection pump I took everything off to get better access. Mine looked bad on the outside but clean and new on the inside. I cleaned everything up before I put it back...

Truck bought for parts, got it running, but…

It just looks like it might be leaking from the picture, hard to tell from the picture. I took mine apart and I have never done it before. I put a reference line on it before I separated it. The one bolt will not come out unless you spin it. I cleaned it up and checked the play and I put a...

Dye would really help you. Might have a turbo base gasket leak. Maybe pull the turbo off and see if it has oil in it. Shouldn’t. I took mine apart on my non runner and it was clean and shaft was tight.

Truck bought for parts, got it running, but…

I would clean it and put dye in the engine oil. My M1165 was described as visible blow by. I had fuel in my oil from fuel pump failure and truck had 83 miles since returned to A condition. I changed the oil and let it run and the vapor that was visible was gone. I installed the CDR valve...
