I just use a 12 volt Facet pump connected to the secondary filter (extra pipe plug on the inlet side) with a ball valve. Run the pump until return is free of bubbles, turn it off, close the valve at start that thing!
The sleeves go in the top outside bolt holes in the heads.
I have always used old head bolts for guide studs, do not use the in the holes with the guide sleeves!
If they are threaded, just urn them in a thread or so, makes them much easier to remove.
don forget the shims on ther deck surface.
A piece of copper tubing hammered flat works great. You can curve it to fit around the journal. leave some of the tubing round to use for a handle.
Old timer trick shown to me many years ago.
If you have scuffed pistons, you will also have leaking liner seals. Better pull the liners and replace them. PS, been working in Detroit's for nearly 50 years.
