    Yup spiking is advance warning of about to catch fire. You can remove the transformer rectifier box and be left with a perfectly good and reliable 12 volt alternator.

    Looks like that trailer will work. I know with a van trailer it would not work on mine.

    Better do some measuring with that, I had the exact same plan, put a 916 winch platform on a 915, found out the trailer will hit it . . . had to abandon the plan.
