Oh and I forgot that before I drove out there I helped my buddy out (an aspiring saxaphone rapper) in a music video featuring the truck, it came out pretty awesome!
(there is a lot of language so watch out)

LOL! Not my deal but some good cinematography.
I started to dissemble the old t-case and wanted to share some pics and figure out into why it failed so badly.
This little collar sits on the back of the case and has a seal that spins inside the case and has a setscrew to keep the collar in place.
Setscrew was not super tight, but I do not...

and I paid $220 for them
Returning later this month to get it, I think I may take it to some cool CA destinations before I head back!
Exactly! they had cameras at the front of the units too. I used the Chevy to conceal my actions and put the tires behind so nobody would see me under there. The lady at the front is super strict but I ended up making friends with the groundskeeper and he let me have some cool free harness/car...
Spent a wonderful week in CA!
Working out of an RV storage unit can be tricky with the management so handtools only, no grinders or impacts!
Before I went I modified my Chevy at a friends shop with a truck crane to pickup the transfer-case and swing it into and out of the bed.
I used a 1000lb...
Robby Gordons place was awesome and alot of hard work! 110+ hrs a week, sleeping on a friends couch. The hours were rough but we made three awesome race cars and one almost finished! Literally buttoning up the cars at a resort in Mexico.. haha!
So thankful for the opportunity!
But today is...
Its been a bit since an update, but alot has changed.
I resigned from my job in San Fran, it was too much for me and I ended up breaking my lease; all-in-all I came out even. I left that day and took hwy one to come down to LA. I got to see the dragon wagon, its in a storage facility in San...
Thanks to Allans heads up I scored a brand new Rockwell T1138 transfer case out in Barstow CA.
Picking it up from GL was interesting, Full vehicle inspection, crazy entry check but I got it! The container is gigantic and heavy as a lead brick. I did not even open it because I had to drive back...
Cant go back to the old employer and don't really want too.
The old job was awesome (hands on startup with great pay) and I worked with some talented experienced mentors, coworkers and engineers that I had a ton of respect for (from NASA, Intel, Tesla, Google, Mercedes Benz, great fabricators...
Well, I was sitting at my job with a bright future. I was promised to be relocated out to Knoxville TN to start a new life at a new factory in a location I would absolutely love and have been working on that relocation for five months prior.
However, my employer pushed my relocation date to the...
I drove out to Texas to get new tires!
Removing the rims from the old tires sucked to all ****, but I managed to figure out a creative method.
It was an entire week deal to get the new tires mounted, holy crap it was tough!
But she looks good on the new meats and noticeably quicker...
Now I have a big tire dilemma! I am relocating to San Francisco in a month (maybe) or moving to Knoxville TN in a couple months and I am driving the truck there.
Three of the seven tires are good, dated from 2010 and are wearing fine. The rest of the tires are junk dating from 2005-2004...
Ditto, 5' 10" 150lbs here and the footrest is annoying but the stop plate is easy to move, but plenty of headroom so you could always move the seat up.
So I got a few things buttoned up, spare tire carrier moved, got a generator on the truck and extended the frame with an extra rear pivot to support the weight of that spare. Ready for adventure!
We took the truck out for 4th of july weekend, Ran great on the highway even though it was...
I have been working on the rear bumper, frame and side skirts, the internal structure of the rear bumper is 1.75" 1/8" wall DOM. The frame was extended 48" with an extra rear pivot for the extra weight of the massive spare and will serve as the recovery/tow point.
I have been having fun...
A little too much fun, up till midnight working on this thing everyday for the past two weeks.
Had a squeaky squeaky noise so I changed the water pump and she has been running great. Took it shooting!
Time for the camper, I have been moving SUPER fast, this thing is...
Obtaining registration and insurance has been interesting.
I did the normal gulfway route, told them of Allan's existing policy and sent them detailed exterior photos, everything is all fine, the underwriter approved it and sent me the packet to fill out, took a week and a half to get to that...
I had the chance to buy this monster of a creation from Allan, it is truly amazing that he built this thing in a storage facility making the best use of what resources he had.
But yea a breif background; internet addict turned mechanical engineer got a job building prototype tradeshow and...
Allan's creation is quite impressive and a massive undertaking with limited resources, it is of excellent quality and I am very happy to have had the opportunity to purchase it from him.
A little bit about me, I got started fabricating when I wanted to solid axle swap my Dodge Dakota, it became...
