What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Thankfully, no tires were harmed, but yes some of those rocks had some very sharp edges. The last clip at the end and the clip of the the Jeep transversing down the rocks, most of those were fairly dull but there was large pockets in between the rocks , the depth doesn't show well on camera. If...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Took some video while driving through the mountain trails in Big Bear (SoCal) during our SoCal Rally. I posted the video on our thread there but wanted to share it with others who may not view that thread. Used my CUCV (Sgt. "D"), M1009 as the film truck, strapping Go-Pro's to the front, rear...

Last weekend I used my CUCV Blazer to break down a tire for my 5-ton. Had a stuck 3-piece run flat inside and would not budge until Sgt. D came to the rescue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5jGGWqHhWA

I would have just cut a slot in the U bolt to make room for the brake line..:grd::whistle: and I hope you know I am Just kidding. To Rustystud, don't feel bad, with these online forums it's so hard to "really" get an idea if a person is kidding or not, hence the need for a Sarcastic...

Use what works for you and you're driving habits and budget. I (used) to drive my 1009 5 days a week fully loaded anywhere from 50 miles to 150 miles a day, changed the oil and filter at about every 10,000 miles. Never had and still don't have a problem, but I'm not driving it every day...

It's been awhile since I had to pull off a power steering pump, so forgive me I forget the thread size, but I think it is something like 3/8" x 18, but don't quote me on that, check 1st. Here is a tool that I have had for years for the install and removal of the power steering pump pulley. you...

Welcome and good luck. Greetings from San Diego, all the way in the opposite corner. You've come to the right place for information and tips. I was going to ask what that was on the front grille, but then I saw you're from Maine, so It looks to be a Winterization kit. Keep us posted

no offense taken, I can be an idiot sometimes aua you mean this one? Been looking for something like that for some time, so I am guessing that mine is sheared off and flush. I have some maintenance items to do tomorrow, so I will take another look to see for sure, maybe it is just caked over...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Nope. mine has no way to swivel from what I can see, but I'll have to look to be 100% sure. You may be right and it may have been seized up from not being used, but even after moving this trailer with the incline on my driveway, it wasn't enough force to even budge it. Edit... My curiosity...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Been busy and getting things going. Retired my CUCV (the M1009) from daily driving and the abuse from my work in favor of my Navy Truck with a utility box bed. It's more suited for the type of work that I do and probably looks more the part. As you can see, it ain't brand new, but perfect for...

Let's start off by saying that I am still in the process of doing my little upgrade project, but I'm on the very last step. The last step of course takes the longest amount of time, but should have been the easiest part to complete. What am I talking about? Wheel bearings, axle hub bearings...

Mine "seeps" as well, and you can smell it when it's under load. I really need to remove it and have a custom one made. A shop nearby will make me a new line, but they need me to bring me my old one to use as a template.
