What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

30 degrees this morning in Orlando. My wife's Tahoe is in the shop, so I left her the Dodge. I had a choice between the M1009 or the Model A. I needed some diesel therapy. I unplugged my Battery Tender from my M1009. It started it up with one glow plug cycle and without touching the throttle! :-)

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I used to detail cars for a dealership when I was in high school. I knew my shop vac wasn't powerful enough to get all of the shards off of the seats and carpet. I don't have the attachment that gets into the small crevices. I told the crew at the car wash/detailing shop that I know how to do...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I put on leather gloves and knocked out a lot of the loose pieces. My wife swept the street, and I used my shop vac to get the rest of it. I drove the truck to a local detailing shop. Paid $10 to have them clean all the shards off of the seats, carpet, and door panels. That trip was well worth...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Sunday morning at roughly 3 am, my 2004 Dodge Ram 3500 was vandalized. Thieves attempted to steal it, but didn’t. They didn’t steal anything out of the truck. I called 911, and an officer showed up to write the report. She showed me where they pried the glass against the door frame, shattering...

Will the cable fit in the left radio knob hole? If you move the cable to that hole, will it reach the throttle pedal bracket?

I really like your idea of adding a HMMWV throttle control, Ilikemtb999! [thumbzup] I use an aluminum baseball bat as a hand throttle, I have a backup hand throttle - a metal handle from a small push broom. Both work for now, but someday I may follow in your footsteps. Please post more pictures...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Yesterday, I installed new Sylvania H6054 headlights onto my M1009. I had one minor problem. When I removed the driver's side plastic headlight/turn signal grill piece, the plastic piece that holds the lower right screw disintegrated when I removed the screw. I needed a cheap and easy solution...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I zip tied a small x-bar/t-bar lug wrench to the spare tire frame of my M1009. I also zip tied a 6 ton bottle jack to the frame in case the factory jack isn't enough to lift up the truck. Sorry I don't have any pictures to share. Found this picture yesterday while cleaning out the cell phone...

It looks like the CUCV's are multiplying in your yard, Evil Dr. Porkchop! I have a feeling that happens when you park two of them near each other and give them some 'alone time'..... CUCVRUS might have a similar problem. Them CUCV's are frisky little buggers!!! ;-) :naner::naner:

I'm seriously considering doing the same to my M1009. Could you please explain how you secured the paracord when you started? What knot(s) did you use to tie it off at the end of the top and bottom sections?

That's a really good idea, CUCVLOVER! The summers in Central FL are brutally HOT - so hot that I use an oven mitt to start the truck and drive. I get first degree burns on my palm and fingers when I don't use the oven mitt, even with a reflective sunshade covering the windshield. (No, I'm not...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Thanks, Ahab. :-) The trailer weighs 1700 lbs and has a steel deck. The M422 weighs 1700 lbs. I'm over 3500 lbs with the spare trailer tire and tools. My MPG without the trailer is 20 MPG. Towing the trailer and Mite it's 10-12. I run no faster than 60 MPH when hauling that setup. It is very...

Yesterday I loaded my wife's M422 onto our flatbed trailer behind my M1009. The Mite doesn't run. I manually winched it up on the trailer with an 8,000 lb capacity ratchet winch, 2 axle tie downs, and a 20' trucker's chain. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Tinstar - 10 tubes of NO-OX will last you about 5 lifetimes! I have 2 tubes, and I doubt I will ever empty them. A little of that stuff goes a long way. :-)

Congratulations on passing the Extra class license exam!!! :-) Upgrading from Tech to General is on my to-do list. I barely use the Yaesu FT-78000 that I installed in my M1009. I turn it on once a month just to make sure it still works. I still check in to the local ARES net every Monday night...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Please see my post #3377 in this thread. A short metal broom handle works well as well. I alternate between the broom handle and the bat. the bat needs a little bit of tape on it so it stays on the pedal. Without the tape, the bat slides off. The broom handle needs one minor modification. I put...

gottaluvit - It's already too late. You have a terminal case of OD Fever. You will never be balanced in any way, shape, or form again. You're hopelessly addicted to OD iron. You have a positive prognosis, though. Myself and the rest of the Green Iron Laughing Academy...

The seats look VERY comfortable, CUCVRUS! Do they tilt forward, or are they rigid?

No. I added the quote from Henry Ford. My signature looked way too big with the quote. I wanted to reduce the size of my signature. I still have the CVPI. I had to cough up another $700 in August to have the intake manifold replaced. The rear axle has been WONDERFUL. :-)
