I like the idea, right now it is fully adjustable to make a cut just about anywhere on a rim. When i get it out next time i might look into your idea, maby it would make setup faster :-D
It not just for cutting hemmit wheels, there are many other types I cut and some are cut through the sides. I do a lot of wheels and I enjoy building stuff. Thanks for the reply. I used a similar idea as yours to cut circles before
Lol, go figure. had it running today and something went wrong in the motor.........tore it apart only to find the first driven gear is made out of bakelite WTF! and of corse it was stripped Dam! called bodine and they said $100 um, no. well made another one out of brass and now where moving...
Sorry I have not posted more pics, I haven't had much time to do anything but I have started on the drive unit and yes the torch will be stationary but adjustable.
Ok here are some. Went with the ball mill and the "biuld your own bearing" The top plate and bottom plate are 1/2 inch and the bearing cage is 3/8 with 20 5/8 balls 18 degrees apart. It should work. I only had 4 hours to work on it but i will post more when i get more done.

I will have to look but i dont think the mill is big eough, I know my Index would do it but of corse its not under power. The bridgeport is smaller but I will try tomarrow.
