Bob my Deuce
I am getting ready to bob my deuce. I got the trailer and will start in the next few weeks. Getting a few more things ready. Here is a current pic of my truck. I will post pictures as I go.
Working On My Deuce
I purchased a winch this weekend and got the winch on the truck. I still have the pto to go and I need a driveshaft. I got a roof mount stereo case for an ATV and installed it in my truck. Worked out really good.
:naner:I got the transmission back together and will stab it back in tomorrow if the rain holds off. The 5th gear mod went pretty smooth. Thanks again to Tom for fast shipping and having the parts I needed to complete the task. I used 2 large picks to expand the retainer ring for 5th gear. Ran...
Removed the transmission
I removed the trans today. Got it disassembled and found second gear burned up. I looked on Memphis Equipment and didn't see where they had them. Anyone know where to get a modified second gear?
That's probably not a bad idea. If I see any ware on 2nd when I get it apart I'll go ahead and get a new gear but if it looks ok, I have access to a mill and will try to modify it my self. Worst case I have to buy one anyway.
I received the 5th gear kit today. I will be removing the trans over the weekend. Thank you Tom for the fast shipping. Can't wait to get it installed. :clinto:
Thank you for the support. I have been studying the instructions so it looks pretty straight forward. I ordered a pyrometer and turbo boost gage also so I can turn up the fuel to the desired setting. I'm going to order locking hubs after I do some more research before I make a purchase.
Thanks. I slid a piece of 1 1/2, .120 wall pipe out the back window and out the front. I used a one and a half ton ratcheting chain hoist and connected to the first bolt next to the top plate. I lowered the transfer case down onto an atv jack and rolled it right out. The atv jack worked really...
Well I finished the transfer case change out. Removed the old sprag case and installed the air lock case. Went real smooth. I used a pto switch for the actuator and it turned out very well. Now I need to try it out in some mud.
Well my Deuce seemed sluggish. I changed fuel filters and there was a small improvement so I researched turning up the fuel. I read about how by passing the FDC would make a difference so I tried it. Easy enough to change back if it did not work. Wow it helped significantly. I now have some...
Today I by passed the FDC and wow! What a difference. I got my antique plates this week and have put a little over 250 mile on my deuce since I got it. I changed the trans and transfer case lube yesterday. Tomorrow I will check valve adjustment if it's not raining. I took my wife out to eat in...
That's the one. It's an early truck, the front diff is always in and the transfer has just high and low. It's a 1962 Studabaker. John was a pleasure to deal with and made my first experience buying a deuce a good one.
