Painted the wwii shovel with rust encapsulator, good enough for trail use :) For less than the price of a burger it was a good swap meet find:
Cut open the lower outer b pillar and welded in two patches (lots more detail in my build thread).
I scored a decent M-1943 Entrenching Tool (Shovel) at the flea market for 3 dollars and 50 cents. Little rust on the blade but otherwise good working condition. Just what I was looking for to mount on my M1009's brush guard.
I got the 14 bolt full float axle all bolted in along with a 1" zero rate to lift the saggy butt up. Got my 1310 to 1350 u joint in the mail to install. Got the new pro comp 15x10 rock crawler rims and my 35s together and installed (internal airsoft balance). Now to install the rear shocks. Up...
Put a 14 bolt full float under her, and a zero rate for another inch. Relatively painless, ordered the 1310/1350 conversion u join so she can move again.
Well my RC lift u bolts do not fit the newly acquired 14b FF axle. I thought I was stuck mail ordering new ones, NOPE. I found a place in town that makes u bolts while you wait. Grade 8, case hardened with hardware for 50.00 in 15 minutes. Axle goes on tomorrow.
Picked up a nice light bar for cheap, it will be mounted to the safari rack as to avoid drilling holes in the cab. Mounted pictures will be delayed as I have to build the safari rack first.
I get that question a lot. It's a Navy Blazer, has government data plate that indicates CUCV as well. 24 volt inverter, 700R4, no AC, bare interior etc.
35" tires are on (airsoft internal balance) making the 4" lift look better, and started fixing sheetmetal on the passenger side (you can see where I am repairing the B pillar in two steps). Sagging in the rear a bit, will address that when I do 1" body lift.
Finished installing the rough county 4" lift. The truck looks so much better now. Bought a manual tire changer to put the 35" mud rovers on with, broke some sweat on that so far :) Next on the agenda is more rust remediation and a safari rack.
