LDS VS LDT and the real differences

I took the easy way out and sourced a reman injection pump. I thought about converting my pump. The cost of the parts needed, tools and the time, justified for me buying the LDS injection pump. It was about 1000 bucks at the end of the day, but I have a pump that is built correctly. I know it's...

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

It will take a few hour to make a parts list for each pump the way the manual is configured but all the info is there.

All of that info is in TM9-2910-226-34. There is a chart with all the differences and part numbers.

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

The 57k1318 piston kits have two compression rings that have a different part number instead of three rings of the same part number. I have also deleted my fuel compensator. The piston kit were made in 1998 and I think running multiple fuels was not in mind with the changes in the piston. That...

Pump diesel. Eveything looks normal. I did turn down my injection pump 4 flats and my EGT's are 1100. Piston kit number 57k1318.

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

I have been running pump diesel for over 200 miles without any issues with piston kits part number 57k1318/ 2815-00-134-077 after my LDS conversion. I did have to turn down my injection pump 4 flats and my EGT's are at 1100. I had installed the Pistons before I did the LDS conversion and had...

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

I did not measure the ldt piston that I had removed. I looked at both ldt and the lds piston and I did see a difference. The only thing that was different was the duel tip piston cooler that came with the lds kit. The other difference was the oil port on the lds rocker arm that pools more oil on...

Here is a pic I took today of the other side of the intake and engine bay. Getting rid of the m35a2 filter opens things up a bit.

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

I have worked for years in a test manager of a test department for a major drilling rig manufacturer certifying engines, cooling packs and other systems that are installed on the rigs with the involvement of cat, Detroit and cummins to pass there warranty criteria. The engines I have worked with...

I am sorry for this after thought, but I put the five tone piston liner kits in my truck and the kit came with duel nozzle piston coolers where the originals were single. Just a FYI!

The egt's is why I turned my fuel down four flats. I had the same reading on my first run of 1300 f.

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

I turned up the fuel two flats and it seems to be the sweet spot. I have turned down the injection pump 4 flat from it original setting. Ambient temperature durning the test was 35 f. I went around on the back roads up down hill for 10 miles and everything was good Egt's of 1100 f turbo boost 13...

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

My egt's were 1100 with the stock injection pump, rocker arm and injectors. Egt's of 1100 was my base line for the test. I then installed the lds rocker arms my Egt's decreased to 900. The engine had a different sound and more power. My fuel pressure was around 425 and I did want to blow the...

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

I reduced the fuel 6 flats and took a 20 mile drive today. The truck is running great. I had an Egt of 1025, so I am going up to flats on the injection pump. The new rocker arm were tight and the engine had some valve train noise for about 17 miles, but that quited down. There is a lot more...

I feel more comfortable at 1100F EGT's. I spent the last four years restoring my truck myself during my days off. I have made many mods during the process. I am very happy with it and I just have a few small things to do and I will have it back on the road in a few days.

I do understand the injectors and I was not able to source the two hole injectors at the time. I picked up the one hole injectors NOS for less than 50 bucks each. I will keep looking for the two injectors to install.

I have been doing some research on the trademark and I have not found anything information on it as of yet. You are most likely correct about the trademark. But on another note, I took my truck for a test drive today that has the ldt d engine that I have installed the LDS 1a piston and liner...
