Thank you for the kind offer! Two nights ago I got a call from a local guy that seemed interested in it, and suspected I was the prior owner. I'm not going to go bid against someone who seemed so friendly and interested in the truck. I don't need it, I just don't want it to be scrapped or...
He's not, or it's VERY unlikely! Auction is not the way to sell these vehicles. He's either dead, ill, or has had his possessions repossesed or impounded.
If Jane weren't so ill, I'd probably be snagging the 656 back. I've never had such interest in a vehicle, still get e-mails 3 years...
BTW, if any of you are thinking about this truck I can probably give you the most complete info. The guy I sold it to, Sangamon, also owned those Mogs as well. He had just built a new garage for all of them
That's my old M656!!!!!!! Lovely truck, we LOVED it, both of us! That is one of the least MOLESTED M656's left out there. I wish I had the room, I'd buy it back!
That old girl with the 395's would run all day at 60 mph at 2500 rpm. That isn't your typical Lds-465, it is the HIGHLY modified...
I REALLY don't want to be misunderstood here. I initially LOVED my M211, even when it first failed me after 18 hours. I even went to to effort to purchase a 5.9 Cummins and 4 speed auto with 30,000 miles for it. I decided to give it a second chance and try a rebuilt transmission. Although it...
Cleb, it would be simple to tell if it had a rebuild in the last 25 or so years as it should have Dextron in it. If it has motor oil in it, it is either not rebuilt or it was switched back by somebody that believed that old "30 weight motor oil is best" lie. They also may have been using good...
Thanks Harold, but it looks like crap now. Jane keeps saving up money to finish it and I do something silly like buy my Shelby and HEMTT. Shouldn't the shop and garage be finished BEFORE you fill it with crap? Someday it will be a nice place to work, as it is now, you take your life in...
You could not GIVE me a Memphis rebuild, I would not take the time to even install one! I do mine on a 4 post truck lift with a telescoping tranny jack and it's still not worth the effort. I'd buy their parts but their rebuilds are done by untrained monkeys, IMAO.
Thanks Dave, it was our pleasure helping out and you were VERY kind yourself, helping us safely crane our crap out of the 2nd floor of the garage! I'm sure you're swamped with work and your continued great efforts on your house, you had done an amazingly good job on it when we were last there...
I bet that would be fun in a parking lot full of Prius and Chevy Volts! I remember that the older ones on the mountain passes here could be shut down just AFTER they had demolished a passenger compartment (and its occupants).
M211's were all automatics. With a properly installed manual, it would make it a FANTASTIC truck . . . for a gasser. It would never be powerful or fast but should be VERY dependable and a pleasure to drive. I just love the look of them, looks wise they are my favorite.
The CCKW was the WWII...
Thanks Firehound, I've missed a post or two I guess. I can't do the weekend of the 22nd, Jane will veto that for sure, its her birthday weekend. I'm willing to do it without the owner, just some SS member help, but I'll let the owner and others decide the actual plan. :lost: :D
I'm only...
First things first, THANK YOU for all your prayers and kind wishes! Jane is doing much better so she only feels I like I ran her over with the HEMTT once. Yesterday and the day before it was more like I took a couple of hot laps at her expense.
Second, it looks like I could haul the M45 back...
My 2cents , I've had an M211 and they are LOVELY trucks as long as the transmission is in good working order. There have been too many out there that have been owned by those that have filled them with 30 weight non-detergent motor oil. There are no anti-foaming additives in that kind of oil...
Let me see how it might work, my wife Jane had the nub left of her recently removed appendix explode and had to be operated on again tonight. Perhaps, I may be able to help with the truck recovery, perhaps not. My truck and trailer can easily carry the truck to western WA all on it's own. It...
