The 2-3 shift is normally like that. If you really rev the snot out of it, then it’s a little better.

Ok. I was wondering how it ran that way.

Those batteries are not hooked up correctly.

There are relays in the vim module that can prevent crank. If you turn the dash switch on and the trans control comes on, and you have power to the fuel solenoid, then go to the drivers frame rail and jump the aux solenoid to crank.

I would just go with the wtec2 stuff and see what happens.

I had sold the one pictured. I do have another harness though. Strange that your 98 is wtec2. Anything can happen though. I believe the tm states the serial number where production changed to the next gen.

I have a wtec2 trans harness to cab pass thru like in the pic with the vim. Dont have any vims right now. Maybe mv555 does. Thats actually my pic.

Before you go any further. I would get the serial off the transmission, call allison and verify what gen control it is. 1998s were usually wtec3. So your wtec2 controller may not work.

Plenty of replacement setups out there. Make your life easier. I would not attempt to solder that mess back together unless absolutely necessary.

Some of the places the harness snakes thru are tight. Just make sure the big bunch wont interfere

The wire is pretty stiff. You can try to solder and heat shrink each one. Not alot of slack in the dash to begin with though. You might try to find some similar wire to add in and stagger the repairs so you dont have them all bunched at one spot.

I would go with a whole replacement dash harness/pdu

Upper left corner trans computer is missing. See if the cut wire goes to the bulkhead connector on the drivers side of the hump.

They are all md3070 trans. The wtec is just the generation of control setup.

First gen truck. Mechanical engine. Put fuel in the tank and pump away at the primer. Its a recirculating system but sometimes you have to crack a line at the fuel pump to bleed it a little.

1998 would normally be wtec3 trans control.

You may never know why the harness was hacked. The first gen truck dash harness and power panel is one piece. If the harness is cut it all needs to be replaced. What year is the truck?

First thing you need to see if the engine runs. 24v at the fuel solenoid and starter and you can crank it with a clip lead at the starter solenoid. I would check fluids and filters first.

The black panel is a1 c7 data bus with wtec4 or 5 keypad. Won’t work on a first gen 3116 truck or an a1 3126.
