Might I suggest that you contact a place that sells both civilian and the military HMMWVs and H1’s and work with them to see if you can work a trade.

I purchased my civilian Slantback H1 on FleaBay for $35k. (Same price I paid for my M1025, and yes, I own twins). I just added a Whipple Supercharger to the H1. I have a lot to work on and shake out BUT it is the same with any FMV also.

Sell this unit and purchase an H1 and be done with it, IMHO

Just state that the original wheels are getting restored as they were dangerous and needed to be fixed and you threw on another set of wheels just to keep her mobile. Also, a model A or T is still historical even without wooden wheels so I’m not sure the person you spoke with has a leg to stand on.
