Backfiring through the carb could be a timing issue. Thruogh the carb = advanced and out the tail pipe = retarded, or is it the other way around :confused: it's been a while! The advance weights could be stuck or have broken springs. Or it could be lean, use a can of something flammable...brake...- WillWagner
