What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Looks great from the distance. Would be nice to see some close-up pictures and a description of the construction details.

Would the M1008 side tanks fit on a M1009? I could need more fuel capacity to take advantage of the local price difference on diesel.

That's how I had planned to keep both alternators in my M1009. Dual pulley on the compressor and separate belt to alternator. Did you fab the brackets and tension adjustment bars from scratch?

I will shop around where we live now, in Western North Carolina. Last time I asked, I was quoted around $1000 by a LineX shop in Montana for just the cab.

So there is no way around these ridiculously expensive bed liner businesses?

That reminds me of the only rust spots I have on my M1009, two small areas in the cab floor. Everybody, please let me know if you are going to part with a cab where these pieces could be salvaged from. They are small but curved and I rather not have to hammer flat sheet metal into shape.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Installed a 700R4 and NP241C with tall adapter yesterday. This combo did not need any modifications to crossmember, frame, or drive shafts. Just the transmission fluid lines between the transmission and radiator needed to be slightly rerouted and bent to fit. The plug for the 4WD indicator...

Bring it to the GA rally. It's about half the distance and I could help hauling you back if needed. I'll bring my M1009.

Crank it without ether. If you are not getting white smoke or at least strong diesel smell out of the exhaust, you have a problem with fuel delivery.

Add a Rat Terrier to your pack. They have their name for a reason. They are a little smaller than the dog in your avatar (Mountain Feist ?) and are relentless rodent hunters/killers. At the same time very social and easily trainable.

WOW! You guys have big cojones - and good earplugs. According to this calculator, the poor 6.2L will turn ~3400 rpm at 70 mph and ~3900 rpm at 80 mph with 4.56 gears and 33" tires. Max horsepower for this engine is around 3600 rpm. At the higher speeds mentioned above you are already over the...
