Brake fluid shooting out of remote reservoir?

Finally got the last 2 passenger side rear axle brakes adjusted, they were near perfect if not a bit tight. Pedal is exactly the same, about halfway and doesn't pump up. Calling it good.

Brake fluid shooting out of remote reservoir?

What type of wrench do you guys use to get at the front lower 1 1/8" nuts to loosen the adjuster? Couldn't get a socket on there and had to wing it with a crescent wrench. I'd like to buy the correct wrench to make sure they are completely tight, was thinking offset box wrench?

Brake fluid shooting out of remote reservoir?

Well finally got some time with this nice weather to start adjusting brakes. Front ones and both rear left. Fronts were off a little and one of the rears. Hope to get at the passenger side rears tomorrow. I did fire it up, drained the tanks and pumped the brakes. Still have a firm half pedal but...

Brake fluid shooting out of remote reservoir?

When I disconnected the vent line at the air pack there was no fluid at all, I would think there would be a drip or two if there was a leak there, air pressure present or not. I can check it again with pressure

Brake fluid shooting out of remote reservoir?

Ok new master cylinder installed and brakes power bled. Pedal is solid and about halfway, same as it was. I didn't get a chance to start it and get air pressure. I'll probably do another pressure bleed and adjust the brakes first as weather allows.

Brake fluid shooting out of remote reservoir?

This afternoon I crawled underneath the truck and took the skid plate off of the air pack. Opened the vent air line, no fluid. Then noticed the master cylinder was damp at the front where it bolts on. Pulled back the boot and some fluid came out. Guess the front seal is leaking so I'm going to...

Brake fluid shooting out of remote reservoir?

But it only does it when there is air pressure in the system. And right now the pedal is firm. It sat for a few months and when I checked it last week is when I discovered the pedal going almost to the floor. I'll try bleeding them again after I do the major brake adjustment to eliminate that...

Brake fluid shooting out of remote reservoir?

Unhook the vent line off the airpack and see if it blows brake fluid out Good idea. I will attempt this tomorrow, today would have been nice but more family events......1 year old great niece birthday party lol. Thank you for the suggestion

Brake fluid shooting out of remote reservoir?

Thank you! The adjustment doesn't seem too bad. Hope I can get a couple days on a weekend that aren't too hateful and get this done. Right now I seem to have about half a pedal that doesn't sink. Maybe the adjustment will give more pedal and stop the backflow of brake fluid out of the...

Brake fluid shooting out of remote reservoir?

While there's air pressure in the system? Or wait til it bleeds down?

Brake fluid shooting out of remote reservoir?

The fluid dropped after I pumped up the pedal with no air in the system. Thinking the shoes stayed moved out closer to the drum? No leaks at the wheels.

Brake fluid shooting out of remote reservoir?

Can someone post the tm that details how to do a major brake adjustment? I've searched and come up short. Thank you

Brake fluid shooting out of remote reservoir?

I just went out and pumped the brakes with no air pressure in the system and no fluid spraying out of the reservoir no matter how hard or how many times I pump. I will add that when I last worked on and power bled the brakes a few months ago I had about a half pedal. When I checked today and...

Brake fluid shooting out of remote reservoir?

Also should add that all the shoes looked very nice and thick like they were serviced before the previous owner bought the truck.

Brake fluid shooting out of remote reservoir?

Its when the pedal is released. But I haven't gotten back out there to check it without air in the system. Had some family events this evening. I'll definitely check that tomorrow. I've adjusted the front wheels and one mid axle one one side, minor adjustment, so I have 3 more drums to adjust...

Brake fluid shooting out of remote reservoir?

No I disconnected the vent line to the mc, plugged it and added a remote reservoir ran into the cab. The reservoir is a small motorcycle reservoir, I wasn't comfortable using the one that vented directly to the atmosphere.

Brake fluid shooting out of remote reservoir?

I I want to say no but I can't remember now. I'll have to check after I bleed down the air.

Brake fluid shooting out of remote reservoir?

I have completely rebuilt my entire brake system in my 1971 M35A2 with the single master cylinder, adding a small remote reservoir in the cab next to the drivers seat in the process. Using clear tubing I keep the fluid level close to the floor line. When I have air pressure in the tanks and I...
