@Gunfreak25 Careful there with that beer! That has, like, real alcohol in it ;-)

They had bigger testicles back then. I bet the tow vehicle has around 200 hp and drags that load up any significant hill at walk-beside-it speed. Loading these trucks looks like a fun activity. Sent from my SM-G991W using Tapatalk

@Gunfreak25 peeks into the rockers of his truck and sees they are all rusty inside. Me: "Let's pretend we didn't just see that".

@Gunfreak25 That tube chassis looks so cool! I can see plenty of fun ahead, tearing around in that thing. Uh, uh..and it likely needs a beefier engine. And brakes. But mainly a beefier engine! vroooooooooooom..........

@gringeltaube has produced a nice set of drawings that explains the different types of beads and the matching shape of rims and why mis-matching them is problematic. The tire receives mechanical pressure from the edge of the rim in an area of the tire that is not designed for it, and...

The line between comprehensive rust repair and spending oodles of time and effort to fix something to almost 80% is blurry. I think you are making the right call with a replacement cab. Sent from my SM-G950W using Tapatalk

@Gunfreak25 It was not until last summer that I took the softtop off my truck and I agree! A 13,000 lbs convertible is stupid fun. The only thing that keeps me from running topless more often is how hard the clamp rail is on the softtop when mounting and dismounting.

@Gunfreak25 That sounded almost like a "boring" update, which is excellent news after all the excitement you had. Once you have the truck where it starts and runs and stops reliably, it will hopefully continue to deliver predictable and reliable service. The rest is gravy!

@Gunfreak25 I admire your tenacity. Sometimes, walking away for a while is the right thing to do. Do something else, something fun...you never know what that brain comes up with when left to mull over things without pressure. Thanks for documenting your journey so well.

@Gunfreak25 When mine had the fluttery exhaust, died randomly and often felt during driving like I had lifted my foot off the throttle (although I was standing on it!) it turned out to be fuel filters. I had discarded that idea, because they were next to new. Changed filters...problem went...

At least the motor mounts, front and back, are readily available. Wow, you were not kidding regarding "that radiator hose should be straight"!

I would add that, if you DO have the correct tube size, please put those into the steer tires.

Yes, the inner tubes will do just fine. They are usually good for a size up or down. Inner tubes for 9.00-20 have successfully been pressed into service for the 11.00-20 tires. One size DOWN is likely better than stretching the tubes into a much bigger tire. GIft horse, mouth etc. and I agree...
