The 8x8 wont be ready. Lots of little things to be done and I'm picking away on it. With only 10 weeks left for Aberdeen, I better get the deuce ready and it has some oil pressure issues to be addressed.
It's a matter of money I guess, with more funds on hand, these things could be expedited and...
Thanks James, the hardest part is to clean and prep the surface. Once the paint is on, a new layer (of a different brand) is trivial in comaprison.
Here is a section of the rear primed for paint.
The Aervoe (997B) 24084 is such a perfect match, that I'll do the unthinkable, go with Aervoe for now, I can always repaint it later. It's available, low cost and I already have some.
Just for the H of it, I called back and asked for more pricing info, here are today's prices:
1 gallon of 529F-1-24084 (Randolph Products #): $168.30
4 gallons @ $93.77/gal: $375.08
Contact info: Randolph Products 413-592-4191 ("Kim")
Jeff, if I had the money for it, I'd do it, but it's out...
Jeff, I agree with you, but $300 for two gallons delivered is a bit hard to swallow, in comparison, I'm only asking $350 for my extra 20,000 lb winch!
I'll probably need 3 gallons all told before I get finished with the frame, wheels and all, which will receive the same color.
Well, with the weather getting warmer and the aluminum primer I received from Cabell, I'm getting ready for the painting.
Got a quote from Randolph Products for the 24084 yesterday.....$129.00/gallon plus $40 for shipping! As you can imagine, I'm still looking for a source.
Meanwhile the...
Guess Avon Lady in an MV comes to mind. :-)
Anyway, I'm happy about the close match of 24084 FS595B to the original.
Anybody worked with Randolph Products for paint?
With the lighting being what it is , this is what the sample patches look like this morning. The 24084 as marked to the far right. The two samples in the center are Aervoe and Gillespie 24087, definitely more brown.
I'm going for the 24084 for the 8x8. Thanks David for the information!
Now for a...
Re: RE: Paint samples, decisions decisions
Not really, but they have good colors right out of the can and many to choose from.
David Doyle suggested 24084. I ordered a can of Aervoe 24084 and it arrived today. I do like it, it's more green than the 24087 and still a dark olive drab.
I'll...
Deciding on the right shade of OD is a big thing when the common colors don't match the original.
A=Aervoe, G=Gillespie
The lower portion of the door has original paint on it as far as I can determine.
