What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I just used LED clearance lamps on my B/O lamps. I never hope to use them anyway and they really look nice. In the rear I sed a set of LED RED lamps in the hinge holes of my M1009 Mule. I added a set of LED license plate lamps on the rear that were lit when the backup lamps were on. I had...

Get the bolts and washers out of the clamping plate and retain them. What about up on the frame the clamping clamps? One on each frame rail up front. I have the sway bar. Get back to me about the retainers for the sway bar. Again take some pictures.

I have a stock sway bar if you need one. I hope they saved the brackets and did not torch the bolts out of the clamping plates. If they did I have them also. Time to liquidate. 1 piece at a time.

Back when I bought new CUCV sheet metal from the GM dealer I was able to get a rebate for repairing any of the new dented replacement panels. Sometimes they were that bad that they would get credit and eventually just give me the new panel after they were credited. That was when new GM doors...

finnicky 24v system.. No such thing. If maintained and not hacked it will last indefinitely. Don't follow all the instructions on this site and use the manual as your guide. I learned that the CUCV systems work. Rust was always my biggest enemy. If you can tolerate the ride, noise and lack of...

Next you need A/C in the back. Hot and sweaty is no way to enjoy wine tasting. I work for a winery over the summer. http://www.parenfaire.com/flavorfest.html Take Care.

I think all wine tasting CUCV's should have a boarding ladder. Just saying.

Good News is I have a brand new OEM GM M1009 right 1/4 panel if you are interested. Let me know. That area that is damaged on yours is a tough area to get straight. Lots of unreachable pockets and detail work to get everything fitting correctly without filling it. Good Luck. I just wanted to put...

Honestly it has been my experience that they were from a 1983 350 gas engine. I was told by a reliable source that the prototypes were 1983 and the military approved the build. I always questioned that because 1983 has the dimmer switch on the floor for the headlamps and the wipers switch on the...

Check out these Energy Suspension motor mounts. M1009 Little Red Riding Hood. | Page 10 | SteelSoldiers I am rebuilding an M1009 in my barn. Winter weather and life have slowed me down. I plan on getting crannked up here very soon. Spring for sure. Take Care and good luck. Post some pictures...

It is not my truck. But the stock CUCV exhaust manifolds did not have gaskets. And a word of advise. If they are not leaking do not mess with the exhaust manifolds. They are good if they are not leaking. Same as the intake manifold. It has no fluid in it and unless you are going to change the...

If you ever go to sand and repaint that truck you will need 10 rolls of 80 grit sand paper. That truck has excellent corrosion protection with the 2 coats of CARC that are on it. But if you were to want a repaint of the entire truck you would be sanding forever. The days are gone when you find a...

Never work any old transmission in reverse. It has no clutches just a brake band and they do not like to be worked. I had many plow trucks that went forward and shifted perfect but the reverse band was worn out from back dragging. Not my truck and you can do as you wish. But I just wanted top...

Yes I know. I cut down a few CUCV brush guards and fit them onto other vehicles. A Chevy S10 Blazer and a Jeep Cherokee. I even cut a slightly damaged one apart for extra bars on a few of my own CUCV's that I added lights and changed the front end lighting. I could have used 1/4" x 2 flat bar...

OK. Do yourself a huge favor. If you have an air compressor. Go to Harbor Freight and buy a paint gun. $20. Now get some water base paint in the OD green. Sand the door lightly and paint it with the pray gun. It covers great and cleans up with water. It lasts a long time and it is simple to...

Just get a new one. I never had any issues with the aluminum ones. If you secure them tight in the heater box and make sure you have the area clean you are golden. Getting a heater core rebuilt is not very cost effective. My personal experience has been that the aluminum ones seem to throw more...
