I found this with an advanced search for "hydraulic head torque" in the deuce forum. It was posted by Bjorn, I would bet it's correct.

Try lossening, cleaning and reseating.
I think what you are refering to as a shoulder, is the part that a bubber boot fits on to protect and "seal" off the line fitting. The boot is not needed. It is just an extra layer of protection.
