    Mystery wire………

Wow, you needed more coffee in the begining, now you need a drink(spirits?)!

    Mystery wire………

One other thing(different than civilian) that I have never looked to see why is, the fact that the signal lights work without the key on.

    Mystery wire………

Well, in post # 21, I posted a pic of a civilian wiring schematic. I didn't look it over completely but I would guess those wires interrupted the 12v starter solenoid, when in not in P or N. If(speculation) they used a civy harness, maybe they simply diverted the start position (purple with...

    Mystery wire………

It does 2 things, neutral and backup lights. The 2 copper colored terminals(pic I posted) are for neutral, the other 2 terminals along the top of the switch, are for the back up light. It is adjustable(position). I had to adjust mine, to get the back up lights on, when in reverse.

    Mystery wire………

Pics 5 and 6 is what my truck looks like. So my truck must have a physical interlock happening while in gear(keeping the key from turning to the start position). Dstang, can you try turning your key to start, with it in gear, and tell me if the key refuses to turn or if it does turn.

    Mystery wire………

RE, Read post 36 again. Looks like the previous owner of your truck, did their own version of the DH relay mod.

    Mystery wire………

I know what wire your referring to. At the under-dash starter relay, the purple with white tracer is the 12volt (with the key in the start position) wire, that triggers the start relay. The relay then closes and supplies the starter solenoid with 24 volts.

    Mystery wire………

The pic I posted is from a retailer and it was found searching the part number(22514861) in the -20P. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SMP-NS41/ notice they call it a neutral saftey switch and reverse light switch! My switch in my truck, does NOT look like that switch(exactly). Mine appears...

    Mystery wire………

Ok, so it must be the neutral safety switch. It should plug into the same switch unit as the backup lights(The TM calls for the switch shown in the pic I posted below). Look at this pic, it would go on the top left 2 terminals.(cooper colored) But my truck had a plastic cover on those 2...

You dissapointed me with your reply, Ron. I thought for sure, you'd post it was the wheel-chock tether...

    Mystery wire………

Found this on a civilian wiring diagram for a 1984 truck.

    Mystery wire………

I guess, if everything works with it unplugged, them leave it alone!

    Mystery wire………

Yup, but for the other, the colors and number of wires, does not match the schematic or my truck.

    Mystery wire………

I found the single wire(brn/white) wire. It goes on the parking brake switch. It's way up above and behind the silver round relay in the top left corner of the fuse panel(on the P brake mechanism) Still not seeing the other 2 wire connector.

    Mystery wire………

I just looked at my truck, and I can't find either of the wire/plugs in your pics! Are you referring to a one wire(brown) connector and the 2 wire connector, and thinking they go together? Kinda confused. The schematics are in the back of the -20 and -34 TMs.
